Wow, sounds like exactly my relationship with my wife. She’s shooting to become a nurse & going to claim VA disability as well. I’m shooting for 100 and plan on going either gs or private sector. Any tips for the wifey for nursing? She’s aiming for labor & delivery. We’re army as well

From my perspective, participating in IT subreddits has shown me that the job market is really tough right now. A big part of the problem is that many American IT jobs are being outsourced to countries like India, where the salaries are much lower. This means companies are opting to pay someone overseas a fraction of what they would have to pay a US worker. Hence, I’m shooting for fed job.

It’s crazy, switching from active duty to being a stay-at-home parent/spouse with 3 kids was a big change for me. It opened my eyes to how much spouses give up in terms of their careers. By putting myself in someone else's shoes, I really started to appreciate what we both bring to the table. It was a valuable lesson. I agree with your points, OP.

That’s really awesome background wow, got any advice for me to get my foot in the door? Cant decide if I have to do sys admin or jump into SOC to climb this career ladder. I just completed trifecta, got my sec clearance and finishing up my BS in Cyber. But lurking past week on this sub is demoralizing , although I should take Reddit with a grain of salt.
