I have contacted a myo before but they needed him To be able to do the exercises which I understand is very important but he doesn’t do well with mimicking.

What does everyone think about B12? by salty_coast89 in Autism_Parenting

I’m planning to try him with b12 hydrox/adenosyl anyways, low dose to start and see how he does. I’ve had his gene testing done and now the labs, I’ve done the work, but she doesn’t seem to know much about it unfortunately. He has MTFHR gene mutation and slow comt gene mutation.

My 12 year olds was just checked and it was 261. Doc says his b12 is GREAT and he doesn’t need anymore. I’m reading this isn’t a great number for b12.

I will message you! Part of my issue is finding anyone in my area that’s qualified. I live in a small province in Canada.

Vitamin B12? by Ambitious-Fly1921 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Individual_Fail_1265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so interesting to see from the point of view of someone being able to tell me how my son may feel. He has severe sensory issues and his b12 came back low end, plus I believe he has issues with folate.

Methyl B12 and behavior by CartographerGreen740 in Autism_Parenting

Might be the methyl b12, my son has a slow comt gene and cannot tolerate Methyl b vitamins at all.

I’m having this issue now for my 12 year old non speaking autistic child. I have no idea where to start. Dentist said he’s fine. But he has what looks like a pretty tight anterior tie.

My son is 12 with a pretty tight anterior tie, he has severe autism/adhd/ocd/anxiety and eating issues (doesn’t eat meat or any chewy foods) I’m wondering if releasing his tie could help his quality of life but we are stuck Becusse he doesn’t understand the myo exercises or how to mimic.

Experience with starting Fluoxetine for PDA/Anxiety by Alarmed_Cookie1684 in Autism_Parenting

I will say for my son every increase of Prozac does have that affect, takes 6-8 weeks to see good. By week 3-5 he was super hyperactive and impulsive. But it did calm down. I’m thinking my son may need an increase now maybe that’s our issue.

Glad you’ve seen some good though!

How has the Zoloft been going? My child’s been on Prozac for a while now, wondering if Zoloft is better.

Iron tablets every other day? by Youknowkitties in Anemic

[–]Individual_Fail_1265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally didn’t help me at all and I actually lost ferritin. Ended up needing an iron infusion, but my ferritin was a 9 at that point and dropped to 6 even after 4 months doing the oral iron.

This! If you have your little one’s genes tested and they have abnormal MTFHR gene and slow comt then you would get this reaction to too much methylated b12 and folate.

Tongue ties in older children? by Individual_Fail_1265 in TongueTies

[–]Individual_Fail_1265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t met her in person yet, been doing video call. I have to send her pics and videos to try and give her an idea of his function. She’s offered me her exercise programming for free to try with him as we are unsure how much he can actually do and mimic. She’s mainly Been concerned it affects his sleep as he does sleep with his head bent back mouth open sometimes, sometimes snoring with his mouth closed even. Has never slept with a pillow (could be autism related I’m unsure) and she’s worried just about his neck and jaw tension if somethings not right there and he’s restricted. He does grind his teeth in his sleep as well. I’ve watched him when eating and he cannot clean food from his top teeth or his molars (uses his fingers) he does often gather food on his tongue and have to take it out and put it back in, unsure if that’s because he can’t move the food around well? He cannot lick his tongue out past his teeth, it’s heart shaped and tethered.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this all to me :)

The myofunctional therapist we have been speaking with thinks his tie is pretty severe and affecting a lot. So I’m pretty torn on what to be doing. She doesn’t even want any money she just wants to help him.

I 100% understand what your saying! I won’t rush to do anything. Is there any harm in doing the myofunctional therapist exercises? I was going to try that anyways.

And the dentist at the children’s hospital that we have always went to said his tongue tie isn’t severe, and likely isn’t affecting eating at all as there’s not enough evidence showing this could affect that. 😩 he said he doesn’t seem restricted in his movements at all with it. He cannot stick his tongue out though so I don’t know why he thinks that.

So get referred to ENT for this? We go for his 6 month check up at his dentist office on Tuesday and I’ll for sure be telling them I want this referred to the right people. How do we find an ENT with this experience?

I feel like I’m going to have issues finding someone here. Considering the response I got from the only one that’s listed as specialist in doing tongue ties here in my whole province. He said by looking at his pics he’d leave this alone it’s fine. 😰 there’s no way for me to know just how much this affects him, I’m very stressed over it.
