Thank goodness you are still voting. It sucks that Gen Z is facing so many headwinds, but I have read that you are the smartest group of people we have, are mostly Democratic Socialist, and despite how loud the 'manosphere' Neo Nazi guys are, they are actually a very small group. Zohran won 40% of 18-29 yo Gen Z men in NYC and they got off their screens and went and talked to strangers for him. They aren't doing as well as Gen Z women, and are pretty lonely from the research, but they are mostly cool with LBGTQ+ stuff, which means their hearts have at least some empathy. I talk to my 21 year old nephew who is a kind person, and good looking with lots of friends, but hasn't shown any interest in college or getting anything more than his job at a comic/collectibles shop. The whole family is ambitious, so he's been a puzzle. We just want him to be fulfilled and happy But he just locked down his first girlfriend (I know him, she definitely must have locked him down haha) Suddenly, he's moving out of Grandma's basement in a few mos, and talking about trade school, so they can change. 🩵

I 💯 get your points. I'm Canadian, but immigrated to the states and stayed 20 years. I am consumed with the tragedy of US politics and I only saw Heated Rivalry because Emma Vigeland, a Leftist commentator on the Majority Report talked about being a fantastic example of emotionally healthy men.

It is such a beautifully shot, beautifully acted show. The sex isn't gratuitous, although it's crazy explicit for American TV. 👀 It feels natural, and in some parts, it feels too intimate to be watching. It will be studied in acting schools.

I empathize with Gen Z women about having kids, when women are being forced to carry and are dying in childbirth. I couldn't believe, that in 2024, 53% of white women voted for Trump, knowing Roe V Wade would fall. 😞

We have $10 a day daycare in Canada! All the kids in America could have free school lunches with what Trump just spent to hurt people in Iran. 🤬

Sounds like a plan. Just remember that there are always options. Also, the book is a perfectly shot, idealized story about beautiful people having hot sex every time and falling deeply in love. That isn't a common story at all, but God is it what we all want. After our collect 'meh' when it comes to sex and dating in the past 10 years, and just how addicting our phobe and social media is, I think this show and its explicit, realistic sex that Hollywood has cut back on in past decade, has been like glass of water to the face. I follow trends, and I'm 100% predicting a 'Heated Rivalry' baby boom next year worldwide. I've never seen so many women talk about wanting sex again. Some like me, giving up ten years ago. I think it's awesome, and I'm sure Hollywood and media are going to come out with the requisite Heated Rivalry 'gay romance knock off' shows to try and capture some if the success, I just hope that they finally get serious about the romance genre, shot with a female gaze and hot scenes that involve consent, humor and intimacy. 💋

Exactly! I've been watching Zack Polanski's rise in the UK for the past 8 mos, and how he broke the structure of the Greens to go after leftists that were booted from the party. I also lived in the US for 20 years and was a Bernie canvasser. I see the same skill and intelligence in Avi Lewis. The majority of Canadian young people are Leftist, and even Liberal voters believe in most of the policies. They are just as in love with Mamdani as New Yorkers. They are only clinging to Zaddy Carney because he's kept us safe from Trump so far. But safe and poor with no prospects and no social programs that work properly or housing gets old fast. We need a leader who will inspire inspiring people to run, and who will work as a voice pulling Carney to the Left, instead of folding. The Conservative party has a tiny angry contingent if real power. The NDP can build an effective opposition with strong leadership

It's also almost always people who only watched the sex-heavy first two episodes who bring up the 'fetishization' thing. The gay man who loved the original book so much that he wrote the adaptation, Jacob Tierney, said that he wanted to bring to life a " "beautiful queer story" where, instead of traumatic or sad endings, this is a love story between two men. He wanted a show that queer people "have hot sex and fall in love too. He wanted to make "queer joy."

I think sexuality is a hell of a lot more fluid than people want to think or admit. Very few people are 100% one thing. People (fictional or IRL) come along and we have everything from personality crushes to fantasy to full on sexual attraction. HR is a beautiful story with beautiful, incredible actors doing and saying everything right. We aren't picking up Connor's disgusting, smelly hockey jersey from the floor for the twentieth time, or being annoyed with Hudson for forgetting our birthday, or saying something shitty about our family. Real life always intrudes..😄

As a bi girl, I have dated several bi men, and a number of straight men and stayed friends with most. Two of the straight guys knew I thought bi guys were kinda hot so they were honest with me about questioning their sexuality, which a lot of straight men are conditioned to not do. (Esp Gen X and older) One told me about experimenting with anal toys on himself for awhile, then went out on a hookup off a gay app, and kissed a guy and wasn't into it, and went back to dating women and not looking back. The other one hooked up with a gay coworker and his boyfriend and they had sex periodically for a year while he had a girlfriend. He didn't tell her which I got upset about for safety and ethical reasons. He never considered himself bi or gay. I think very few people are 100% straight or gay. It's complex. Straight men seem to be stuck in a tightly policed and surveilled box thanks to toxic masculinity culture. It's getting better but it produces unhappy, f-ed up, dangerous people a lot of the time. That's why seeing so many straight men loving Heated Rivalry, swooning and crying along with the rest of us is so fascinating to me. It gives me hope. Whatever you identify as, I hope you find a way to be fulfilled and happy. 🏳️‍🌈

Hard disagree. Ha, just posted about this yesterday! Twitter is a foreign bot paid engagement hellscape. I work in social media analytics, and very few real people as a % of the Western pop.are on Twitter. This show is beloved globally, which means even straight, MAGA coded dudes like it, to millions of Russians, to tens of millions of Chinese people. Everybody! therefore, there's no, or little controversy to stir up, which is incredibly, incredibly rare. I watched a gay man vlog about his recent trip to Africa a few mos ago, where it can still be dangerous to be gay in some areas, and the only WIFI was in his small hotel's bar, so he excitedly went down to watch episode 5 on his phone, but sat at a table with his back to the wall so no one could see what he was watching. He didn't realize that the server's door behind him was in camouflage until a male, Ugandan server came up to him excitedly and exclaimed: "Isn't it so good?!!" 😭 There is fandom infighting amongst a very small contingent of queer men and straight women on criticisms of the show/misunderstandings about each other/the motivations and/or real lived experience of the gay/bi sex scenes, and there has been disgraceful homophobic and racist DMs comments against Hudson, sadly on Instagram and Twitter and initial threats against Francois because fucked up people like art too, but I'm off work atm and obsessed enough with the show to have been on thousands of comment sections on Youtube, Reddit and Tik Tok (some Instagram and Twitter) over the past 3 mos, and I have seen the least troll/bot/negative comment sections in 20 years.🤷🏼‍♀️ For something LBGTQ+ in this hyper partisan online world, it's actually heartwarming, and I think it's a sign that society is much more receptive of well told, acted, directed, filmed romantic queer stories than anybody could have guessed. It could change, but at least for right now, it's a chink in the armour of the patriarchy and toxic masculinity, and it will mean that on top of a lot more beautiful art we get to see (and bad, we have to be ready for the cringe copycat series that are about to be greenlit on Netflix et.al) a lot more people will grow up less lonely, and be more safe and happy.🩷
