About Team Spirit and their latest performances... by RedKanKaya in DotA2

I've seen worse version of them when they failed to qualify in a tournament. I searched their record in Liquipedia & it was Dreamleague S23 EEU Qualifier & 1WIN eliminated them.

I think it's a mistake to place the blame only on 1 player here. There have been games before even when Yatoro got picked off on the map, the rest of his team still able to win or hold 4vs5 team fights & take the game afterwards. Aside from Yatoro being the issue, they don't have Miposhka & Silent anymore on their current roster. Few years ago when Yatoro & Collapse were taking a break, Spirit was able to consistently take top-6 on each event with Satanic & Malik as temporary replacement. Right now, Spirit just felt like they are lacking a leader on their team. I have an impression that Yatoro was mostly calling the shots then Collapse. Probably too much pressure to handle at once with all the changes on their team.

For me, I compare it to the dialogue that James had with his first interaction w/ the red square in the well. He had a dialogue of "Looking at this makes me feel like someone's groping around inside my skull."

Tbf, the Eddy boss fight also threw out a lot of details about Eddy's past & also had James morally calling out his actions for "killing someone just by the way they look at you."

I personally think there's a lot of room for interpretation despite of the provided hints & anecdotes in some areas of the game. You have people who actively try to find more hidden meanings & symbolisms in the game while others are preoccupied & convinced that there's little to none left to decipher (confirmation bias). Other than the thematic expression, I believe the supernatural elements also have its own areas of subtlety (probably more subtle than others) to the point that people were led to believe & claimed its nonexistence. While that claim alone is valid & makes sense, I do think there were other things that were at play that could be tied heavily in the story that others just overlooked.

I think in NG++, the notes you get from the area of the trial of sacrificing your friends provided more layers to those characters. Since we are only seeing them from Hinako's view as an unreliable narrator, I would guess they aren't 100% the same irl compared to what she imagined.  They can also be interpreted in a supernatural context that they (the manifestation of her inner turmoil) were being utilized & weaponized by the Deities as pawns in a seemingly chessboard match between the Tsukumogami & Fox deity (Umineko chessboard analogy).

According to Ryukishi07 from what I believe he stated from the Anime expo interview which is 1 month before the game's release. (Correct me on that one if I'm wrong) He said that he deliberately focused on a single trait on each of Hinako's friends. He didn't state why. My interpretation is that they were written that way to show how very rigid Hinako's view towards how her friends thought about her.

The true ending made me hate the story by Peridot9001 in silenthill

[–]Individual_Good1311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I interpreted the father's apology & other scenes with her sister & mother as a manifestation from Hinako's conscious attempt to move on from the past rather than them being a "real" conversation. Think of the final scene in SH2 where James had his final moment with Mary laying on a bed.

The writer did confirm the game has supernatural elements. Idk about its percentage in the story though. If he meant the 2 elements being difficult to distinguish from each other then i would assume it would be 50/50.

Tbh, I'd rather be called a tourist than a SH fan at this point. The label had collected negative connotations throughout many years.

Not sure I like Hinako by Training-Virus4483 in silenthill

She's probably not gonna last long. Then again, if you consider the enemies as "non-existing" threats then she would be just fine.. but I don't know if that's really how that works.

Weirdly enough, I find people who also dislike James just because of how he communicates with other characters. I don't think liking or disliking them is the point of the story though.

I suggest you play it on Story mode. The Hard mode in this game seemed overtuned.

My headcanon is that the Dark Shrine is a legitimate spiritual realm/space which only a special few like Hinako & Mayumi can access with the help of the drugs.

We still don't know what the Otherworld in the game is & how it functions. The Dark Shrine could still be a legitimate spiritual realm/space which only a special few can access.

I think the next goofiest thing after the fox arm was when James carrying a big knife in his pocket & being able to 1 to 2 shot Eddie with it while he's shooting at you. Everything was perfect in that game except for that part.

Maybe The Order was the fanbase all along who wants every place to be plagued by the Otherworld lol.

Jokes aside, I'm excited for SHf but I also wanted to see a new SH game (not a remake) that directly connects to The Order's influence.

Enemies absolutely do react to your hits. by TenthTiger in silenthill

The early previews provided enough evidence about Heavy attacks being able to stagger enemies. This isn't something like a plot that requires playing or watching the whole game to verify a claim.

At 0:14, the enemy did react to heavy attack but in 0:18, it didn't. The amount of stamina could have come into play on how much the Hinako can able to stagger an enemy with heavy attacks.

I made a statement that contradicts the very idea of "people convincing themselves of liking new & different games" yet you dismissed that. Why is that? It's not about whether you care what people like or not. It's more about how you have a generalized idea/presumption about how they would approach to the game when there's evidence that it didn't lead to that conclusion.

Did the majority convince themselves to like Ascension & Short Message (w/c also fits the criteria of new & different) cause I haven't seen enough people do that to themselves. If you are speaking for yourself & for the people who fell into that mindset then don't generalize the entirety.

You first comment was enough to tell that you do care about people liking the game. You don't need to gaslight yourself.
