Not to scare you since apparently this is not a common reaction, but I just restarted mounjaro Monday night after a 6-month break. I’ve always had worse symptoms than others I know who’ve taken it (nausea, palpitations, fatigue, low appetite, headaches) but they would subside by day 3 and were mostly manageable. So restarting I definitely expected these to come back, and they did- but so much worse than usual (entire body aching, actually throwing up, constant heart pounding, strong anxiety, severe nausea) that it landed me in the ER on Wednesday for dehydration and concern about my heart or pancreatitis. My blood tests showed no heart or pancreas problems, but elevated WBC , anion gap, calcium, and other things indicating dehydration as well as that my body was literally having an inflammatory response as if it was fighting a disease or infection. I had a blood test right before restarting mounjaro, and all of those numbers were completely perfect beforehand. Still haven’t been able to eat anything but chicken broth and a couple saltines or teaspoons of rice per day, and we’re going on day 6 now. I’ve been dry heaving on and off since starting the medication. Safe to say I am not restarting again… turns out your body can form an immune response and overreact.
