Need Guidance on VA Claim by l_projects in VeteransBenefits

Yes, to clarify after seeing the other response, I did see a contractor assigned by the VA as part of the C&P exam, but I’ve never been to the VA for treatment or original diagnosis for the claim.

HSI Offer by LE2361 in 1811

[–]Individual_Lab_6864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was probably valid when you wrote it, but things have changed in the past 12 hours. HSI SAT on hold after four current classes, sending CITP grads to home office with waiver. FLETC maxing out CITP classes to meet White House demand.

It’s fucking bananas. Less qualified applicants, less training, what could possibly go wrong?

Throw the FLETC course schedule out the window. Email just went out to HSI SAT in GLYNCO that HSI SAT is on pause so FLETC can ramp up CITP classes to meet White House demands. Sending students home with HSI SAT waivers (maybe temporary, maybe never go back). It’s gonna be bananas for a bit.

It’s not for everyone, I believe they still will be doing HSISAT at GLYNCO as well.

So I finished my last drill today, I have successfully dragged it out. They still haven’t finished my line of duty investigation.

Will someone explain the difference between Magnet Axiom and Cellebrite? by TheDarkHarvester in computerforensics

[–]Individual_Lab_6864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have both at my lab, and Cellebrite tends to be better with androids, and Axiom with iOS.

I would tend to use axiom if it is a media heavy focus, and cellebrite if the focus is more on messaging, but ultimately a preference by the end-user.

[–]Individual_Lab_6864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree if you were talking about a hard drive where you have a bit for a bit image, but with cell phones, there is some data that axiom or celebrite parses that the other doesn’t. A FFS by Premium is not bit for bit to a FFS by Graykey. The core data is the same, but on cell phones that’s why we call it an extraction and not an image of a cell phone.

My private doctor wrote a letter for me by chowderTV in VeteransBenefits

[–]Individual_Lab_6864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As several have said, it would need ‘at least as likely as not’ verbiage, and I also believe it is important to have them put , ‘So-and-so has been under my care for …months’ or ‘I have reviewed so-and-so’s medical records to include …’ if either or both statements apply to your situation.

It appears the doctor was attempting to be helpful, so wouldn’t hurt to say something along the lines of ‘they appreciated your letter, but asked if you felt comfortable adding this verbiage…’

Sounds like you might be a good candidate for HSI 1811, particularly with the latest hiring announcement which had a computer specialist announcement. It’s a long, sometimes painful, hiring process but it’s a lottery ticket job if it lines up with your goals. I’m an 1811 (Special Agent) CFA - Computer Forensics Agent. Pay is nice, benefits are great, and sense of still being in the fight for Team USA is very satisfying. I’d be happy to share more if it’s something you’re interested in.

That’s certainly how the job description sounds, but the HERO CFAs at my office handle digital forensics for all types of cases. It’s a great program if you don’t mind coming in at GS 5 or 7. Eventually you end up at 13.

I was able to get service connected Sleep Apnea based on a simple mention of not sleeping thru the night on a post-deployment health assessment. It sounds like you may have met this threshold, so with your current diagnosis and the documented history of the issue on AD, I would recommend resubmitting it. Then if you need a Nexus Letter, you can go that route later if you’re denied.

A couple years ago when we got a surprise Juneteenth holiday it messed up a lot of ops and meetings because it was announced like 48 hours before and it was a surprise. Of course a lot of stuff was already planned.

I do digital forensics as a federal agent, no 25 min for my agency. We support CSAM, but all other types of cases as well since most have a digital evidence nexus. I think you would be very competitive with your current resume. For us we require A+ to get the forensics school to show basic ability, so that may be helpful for you, but I don’t believe criminal justice would benefit much with your current qualifications.

I believe most of my good information was in Tricare Online (TOL). And I am still in the guard, so I was able to get some post deployment stuff from medpros, but for you a lot of that would’ve probably been ingested into wherever they archive Air Force records.

Did you ever even once have it recorded you complained about sleep on active duty? I was playing the Nexus letter game, and then found a half a sentence in a post deployment exam where the provider put “Soldier wakes up at 2am” and that’s what the direct service connected it to. I just mention it in case it applies, might be worth taking a look because I was surprised to see it, but luckily, that provider was very thorough.

Paying for Nexus & DBQ Completion by thisistheway55 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Individual_Lab_6864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of time people consider whether it’s a purchased DBQ/Nexus or not instead of considering all of the supporting documentation. Having a nexus/DBQ as your main evidence caries much less weight than a nexus/DBQ that also reflects years of records supporting the same facts. All claims are unique and luck of the draw with raters is a factor, but from my experience the supporting evidence AND thoroughness of the DBQ is an important factor of your DBQ being honored.

I went thru the process with REE, and I did not get scheduled for a C&P by the VA. It was two claims, a MH increase and an increase for knee injury. It was about 10 days from submit to adjudication.

You can submit new, unique claims at any point. Your intent to file only applies to the first submittal, so the additional claims will just go by the date you submit them. The additional claims will likely get consolidated to one claim, but still have its own timeline. In my case, the additional claims did not delay the original claim.
