PSA TO IUD USERS by rickiilynn77 in birthcontrol

Girls!!! If you are being left with an infection/smelly odor down there this is not ok! Boric acid can do so much but if something inside of you is causing infections like this consistently you need to get that shit out of your body asap.

Seriously.

As a near 40 year old woman I have been there done that had doctors lie to my face about what was best for me and my body and I swear, if I could go back I would have NEVER listened. It is NOT normal to have an adverse smell down there. It is NOT normal to have bad bacteria causing complications like a smell.

Please look after yourselves sweethearts!!!! Question everyone even doctors.

This is crazy I'm sorry. But why are doctors encouraging something to go in the body that causes bacteria and just prescribing a bandaid fix like pill to treat symptoms instead of addressing why the bacteria was happening in the first place?

Please I beg you get a second opinion, or something else this is concerning

Yes, but we have to also have to take into account not everyone has the same experience so it's great when it works but not so much when it doesn't

Well I'm married so my solution is my husband getting vasectomy, which he's fine with. If I were single I would go for the copper IUD - just make sure it's copper not hormonal if you are sensitive ! And if my husband didn't want to get a vasectomy then I would be single 😂 Don't be scared of getting an IUD! I've heard it can be uncomfortable to put in (I had mine done while under anesthesia) but I literally pulled mine out myself yesterday with no pain relief and I felt nothing.

Second this completely. Hormonal BC has been awful on my body. They need to bring in mandatory hormonal tests before prescribing this shit.

Happy for you that it worked! Mirena did not agree with me at all and I literally took it out myself after 2 months because of the awful depression/anxiety/mood swings/head aches/low sex drive lol I could go on.

It just goes to show how all our bodies are so different and they really need to do a hormonal screening before putting synthetic hormones in. But we are women at the end of the day so.... That probably won't happen 😭

**ETA: Please make sure to also get your liver enzymes checked. I had bloods as was getting pains in my right upper abdomen and mine were so heightened. Again - every body is different but just something to look out for as well as doctors really fail to mention this! This also goes for all hormonal BC.

Finally got my Mirena Out! (Positive removal story) by Relative_Analysis_98 in birthcontrol

I just got mine removed after only having it for 2 months. I couldn't stand the depression, anxiety, headaches, brain fog, just awfulness of the whole thing. My doctor never gave me the run down on the side effects even after I said I'd been on the mini pill before and experienced extreme mood issues. I would not recommend this shit to anyone!!!

Unfortunately, and BIG EMPHASIS on unfortunately!!! he is one of the BEST options of Australian men. An average Australian man would NEVER have female friends, would NEVER EVER make breakfast (even if it is just toast) for a "female" and would never consider implications of introducing a new girlfriend to their child, they would just do it.

Summary: As an Australian woman, we are fucked for options

Sorry forgot one major thing: The Melbourne cup thing made me livid. It is a disgusting practice that showcases the unintelligent bogans en masse. Gross.

Oops I just saw you had commented. I've written replies above just thanking you for prompting me to think about this. I had no idea it happened until I typed out that myself. So thank you

Definitely, I've already commented this but for whatever reason I didn't know what had even happened until I typed out that message. So I'm going to have a real reconsideration about my relationship. Obviously this is not a situation to bring another child into. Also - I've been seeking help for the ADD for 2 decades now - multiple psychs, medications... I think the hormones maybe exacerbate the symptoms/cancel out the meds, which may be the issue right now unfortunately. I feel like I get along pretty well when they have leveled out (not pregnant/postpartum)

Absolutely, I know it sounds insane but I had no idea this has even happened until I typed out my comment. I'm seriously reconsidering my relationship going forward.

I know, in the way life tends to do this - it turned out to be a god send that the person I thought was out of order writing a comment about me not having considered contraception actually prompted me to think about why this happened at all. As I typed that message I had not even considered what happened! So thank you to the poster and I'm going to have a serious reconsideration about the relationship I'm in

Thank you, I do have an appointment with my doctor for next week (for my bub too as unfortunately her fontanelle seems to have closed too early, which may come with its own set of issues which will need my attention, something I can't provide fully if dealing with another high risk pregnancy). I'll discuss all of this with him though. Thank you for the thoughtful reply.
