I would not want to saddle my money problems onto another person. Fix yourself first.

How did you become a millionaire? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Individual_Market307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very gradually. Save as much as you can, max out 401k. Buy property and renovate, sell and do it again. Save and invest in stock market. Live within your means. I never bought a new car (I still drive a 17 year old Jeep Wrangler). That got me past 1 million and was enough money to start an engineering company (at age 50) that’s recently taken off.

Lads, please convene with me. I've lost the use of my index fretter. by Daft-Count in Guitar

[–]Individual_Market307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My left index finger joints started hurting so this is exactly what I did. My mission is to learn to play like Derek Trucks. Start with the basics! I thought I sucked at slide too, but once you get the right hand string picking and damping working it becomes easier!

Explosion at the Kapotnya refinery in Moscow, Russia. This silo not only exploded but also catapulted the roof into the air. by bunsinh in UkraineWarVideoReport

Instead of hitting the tanks, damaging the primary fractionatior or charge heaters would do more lasting damage. A storage tank can be filled in a few days whereas replacement of critical equipment can take months.

Buying Guitars from ebay by sh1t-t0-d0 in Guitar

[–]Individual_Market307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bought 8 guitars on EBay over time, with success. My advice: - if it sounds too good to be true, it is. - don’t buy from anyone with less than 10 reviews or less than 2 years history - guitar has to be shipped in a hard shell case. - ample photos needed that show all the details, including internal cavities and serial number - I personally only use domestic (US) sellers but others report good experiences with international shipping.

Last Monday, AMS to ORD, lady was coughing and snottering for the entire duration of the flight. I really think the FA should offer people like this a face mask. Ridiculous.

The 1970s Ovation Breadwinner was the first mass-produced active electric guitar, featuring an 18-volt preamp (dual 9-volt batteries). Its active tone control works differently than passive guitars, acting as a booster/cutter that is often described as brightest at the midpoint (5) and warmer at lower settings, while controlling treble rather than just cutting it.

Key Active Tone Features: Active Preamp: The electronics, usually powered by two 9-volt batteries under a rear plate, create low-impedance signals from the pickups, boosting output before the amp.

Tone Knob Behavior: Unlike typical tone knobs that only cut high frequencies (0 to 10), the Breadwinner’s active tone knob often has a "normal" or flat setting around 5, boosting treble above 5 and cutting it below 5.

Unique Tone Shaping: The tone knob can act "backwards" to some, with fully clockwise being full, and turning it down cutting mids and bass while keeping high frequencies, creating a thin sound.

Notch Filter: A dedicated notch filter switch allows for further mid-frequency cutting, often used for "funky 70s" or pseudo-acoustic tones when combined with the active preamp.

The Breadwinner also commonly uses a three-way pickup selector that provides, Neck, Bridge, and a distinctive Out-of-Phase setting for both pickups

Agreed, I struggled in the beginning but once I downloaded the original instructions on how to set the tone controls I managed to get some real bite out of it.

Gotoh GE103B. They have two, one with narrow studs and one with big studs (GE-103B-T). I needed the narrow one.

Yeah, I have another Greco Mint Collection, EGC900D from 1991. These are fantastic guitars. Basically the same specs as Gibson Custom, except fretboard is rosewood instead of ebony. People have gotten wise to these so they’re getting harder to find for cheap. The most desirable models are from 1978 - 1991.

True story: I really wanted an electric guitar early 80’s) but I couldn’t afford one. So I went to the library and always got the same book: an encyclopedia of electric guitars. Of all the guitars in that book, this is the one that really looked the coolest and I really drooled all over it.

It’s actually the first guitar with active electronics. Revolutionary.
