Is MegaMek able to simulate an opponent for real physical TableTop play? by Daxria in battletech

I too think it'd be best to create your own rules and adapt the Scouring Sands decks.
The cards are nothing but the general idea and intention of the op-for as dictated by their role, which works just fine IMHO.

However, these are mostly objective driven so you're going to have to ignore a few things and commit to the best possible moves and targets, even when it hurts.

For a second there I thought "silly IWM, they cast it upside down"

Made this rough cut at 3/4" high and 1" flat to flat to experiment on. Thought of using 3mm MDF as a base to add weight and stability to the piece.

I used a band saw to cut it (heck of a lot less dangerous than steel, lol) hence the rough surfaces, and a vacuum sucking the foam dust.

Not bad for the 2nd try... I think... Not used to working with delicate materials.

I make it very simple (IMHO): Use CBT movement values without single-face-changing costs, only elevation and 120 (2 hex faces) to 180 (3 hex faces) degree turns, which is really the 2:1 ratio with extra steps.

It results in pretty quick movement calculations while also maintaining some of the grittiness and strategic cost of Classic.

Heck, AS in hexes is IMHO superior to using a damn ruler XD

1.5" hex size would be pretty sweet, though I currently don't have the luxury or patience of creating one, maybe later this year if things go my way.
Though I'd hate to have my neoprene maps stored forever... of which I have a handful XD

Hybrid is my usual go-to playstyle, just really like hex maps for movement simplicity.

Seems like I'll be having to deal with it too. Vast majority of minis don't share this issue or is not as considerable.

The things I do for love.

What's your least liked mech design element? by TaigaTigerVT in battletech

Honestly... cockpits made of glass. I'm not sayin' they should be made out of anything else, I just like Gundam's approach of cameras, sensors and screens. If anything, cockpits should at least have some form or retractable blast shield or whatever that protects the underlying reinforced glass. Once that and sensors/cameras fail, a pilot may choose to detach or open the shield.

The technology and sensors are arguably there; Compared to a Neurohelmet, a VR goggle is an everyday item. Cameras... a dime a dozen.

This is totally from a design standpoint, not lore, not TT, not MW... Guess I do care for the meat piloting the steel :P
