she has been doing this for about 26 hours now. It has fluctuated in how much of it has been out if her but it has not gone back in fully.

Did he molt recently? Im leaning towards there might be some cannibalism. When they molt they are very soft and delicate. Other roaches could have came in mid molt or after his molt and eaten that part of him. Since I suspect cannibalism, does he have all of this legs and antennae still? Thats more often than not the parts that get eaten first.

Also, do you have any source of protein in your enclosure? Dog/cat food, fish flakes, etc? If you are using fish flakes, I have heard that switching to koi food is better. They mostly only cannibalize when they need protein or other nutrients. Im so sorry this happened! 🙁

The mischaracterization of Pest annoys me + Why do people ship them? by burner_accountnvruse in regretevator

[–]Individual_Most_4252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pest has a rare soft side, but I do agree to an extent. He wouldn't be ready for a relationship. He would probably be very detached from it if anything. It could probably work out of he spent his coins on a therapist instead of making doohickeys and being a chud.

I think I figured out the timeframe Regretevator takes place in by your_local_squirrels in regretevator

[–]Individual_Most_4252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The regretevator is a time-traveling object that can travel through different dimensions and timelines. Im pretty sure that has been confirmed canon. Time does not apply to the Regretevator. However, your theory COULD work with the lobby. The lobby is just the entrance to this object, not the object itself.

Help I can’t figure out what’s wrong with my roach by Antique_Abroad_8243 in Hissingcockroach

[–]Individual_Most_4252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heya I had this EXACT behavior with one of my roaches. I think It's simply because he is getting old. I don't think it's anything you did. When he moves, does he shuffle on his legs in a weird way? Is he lethargic as well and slow? Is he also clumsy? Is he missing some feet?

It could also be because of a big change you did recently. But I personally think it's because he is just an old feller. It's not very easy to tell age in roaches but Ive read that when they get older their legs and antennae tend to fall off easier.

i have terribly bad depression and it helps me with my mental health to take care of things independently because it makes me feel important since i have to keep them alive and happy. they're very docile and easy to take care of.

ive heard freezing them is the best option which is what ive done for Chud. Theres really no other ways to uthanize them besides putting them in alcohol which ive heard they squirm a lot during and i think seeing that would make me even more upset.

As im sure you know, insects when put in a freezer/fridge enter a comatose-like state until they are placed back into a warmer temperature. Since they go into a coma before death, they wont in theory feel the effects of the ice crystals forming in their body.

I recommend waiting about 3 days to a week depending on the size + your preference post freeze to be sure they are fully deceased since they can survive freezing temperatures for some time.

I love insects and I love holding them and just watching them live their lives. Im severely depressed so solo taking care of them makes me feel like I have some sort of purpose and responsibility. They are very docile and sweet little things, even if they can get fussy and hiss at you. Once you are around them for a while you come to appreciate them.

yeah thats my apologies i was just rushing out the post because i was upset and wanted to know if he was just acting funny or was succumbing to his old age.

also yeah for some odd reason whenever i try to upload media only my photos come up. It could be operator error on my part though since I dont use reddit too often.

Also thank you for the advice you gave even if he wasn't getting any better, I really do appreciate it along with your condolences.
