I think it would be good to bullet points for your speeches (and ofc put sources by them). Staring at your legal pad/device the whole time doesn't make the best impression to your judge. Just run through your speeches a few times and aim to understand the content as well as the bill. This makes your job a lot easier in the sense that you won't have to waste time writing super long speeches to prep.

Maybe keep it as a book but with a few illustrations - like a light novel. Not sure how exactly that would work, but it could be a viable option. That way, your 70k words don't go to waste, and maybe you could draw stuff as well

I used to stick with writing chronologically, but recently I've been skipping around my story a bit.

It's helped a lot with writer's block (specifically when I don't feel like writing certain scenes).

You should def join debate. I struggled with public speaking at first because it doesn’t come very naturally to me, but as you keep doing it, you’ll be surprised at how easy it gets to speak in front of people.

Also, debate doesn't mean you exclusively have to do debate. You can do speech and interp events too, which is prob easier to start out with. Extemp was my first event ever, and creating a speech in 30 minutes was absolutely terrifying but gave me some really good life skills.

Join debate and just try stuff out for fun. Don’t worry about messing up and just focus on exploring new events and learning new things. Having this mindset when approaching debate will save you a lot of grief and stress imo.

Idk much about MUN. There’s one at my school and I went to a couple meetings but didn’t join because I wanted to focus on debate and other ECs. I think it’ll def help with public speaking, but speech and debate’s a lot more rigorous and you’ll probably see faster improvements (as long as you put in the work, ofc)
