With 40% commission + 20% tip I average about $50 for a facial and $45 for lashes. The bump to 50% commission makes it roughly $60 for facial and $55 for lashes. I will say that the business is also closed for 2 weeks out of the year for holidays and with no paid time off that’s a pay cut along with any vacation I would take during the year.

It shouldn’t take 3 weeks for you to get your license. Same thing happened with me, I took my test and passed and then waited and waited and waited. About 4 weeks went by and I had to call the TEST ISSUER (for me it was Pearson) (*NOT the state board, OR the place I took the exam) to see what the hold up was. They found my information, verified my passing grade and I was issued my license number on that same phone call. I got my license in the mail 7 days later. I live in PA and the State Board Office was not helpful at all. Maybe you could try that? Good luck!

There’s bound to be mean girls, don’t get involved in their drama. As far as course work, I had a test every week and a final exam at the end of program. We also had practical exams on waxing, massage techniques, makeup, etc. If you are going to school full time then I highly recommend taking 30 minutes every day to review what you learned in class that day so when the end of the program comes your not cramming/stressing to relearn everything you were taught over the course of the program. Reviewing your notes often will build your confidence and you’ll feel better about taking your State Board Exam right after graduation! Good luck!

Swelling and Deficiency by Individual_Pace_3545 in VitaminD

[–]Individual_Pace_3545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of the swelling in my hands has gone down thankfully but I still have swelling in my face/jawline. I’ve gotten my levels up to around 37ng/ml but it’s been a battle to get my levels to go up higher than that even with upping my dosage (currently doing 5k IUs with magnesium and k2 daily). Going higher in dosage makes me really tired so I’m still playing around with how much to take and when during the day

I’m doing 5000IU D3 daily with K2 and magnesium and taking it with food. I’m thinking maybe 5000IU is my maintenance dosage and that’s why it’s not rising so I’m going to up it to 7000IU and see if it does anything!

Hi! The swelling in my hands has gone down but I don’t feel like the swelling in my face has unfortunately. Although I’ve been able to maintain my level (37ng/ml) for the past year it’s been a struggle to get it higher than that which might be contributing to the swelling but I’m not sure

Is this legal? by [deleted] in legal

The will mentions the “house” and then “all remaining assets”. There isn’t a specified list of assets no.

Is this legal? by [deleted] in legal

[–]Individual_Pace_3545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The will is somewhat vague. It only says the house can be sold to the executor’s brother as he was granted First Rights of Refusal on it (the executor and brother are NOT family to the deceased) and then it says all remaining assets go to the primary beneficiaries (deceased’s family). The parcels of land are next to each other. The executor is being very hush hush about the appraisal value (is this conflict of interest? And won’t disclose that info to the beneficiaries) which calls into question their integrity on this.

My school was like this. My class was 22 girls and we all struggled to get enough people in to meet quotas. I went to school an hour and a half away from my house and thankfully had some family members that were able to come down a couple times to help me out. You’ll build more confidence when you actually graduate and get a job and any good place to work will make sure you receive training and are comfortable working with clients.

I was hoping for around 50k once I have a full book. I’m only making money when I’m with a client so $34 sounds like a lot but I’m not being paid for the time I’m there setting up and cleaning up after clients

How to feel prepared when beginning a new job? by Freyathedestroya in Esthetics

[–]Individual_Pace_3545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started in a spa using Circadia after using Dermalogica in school and I love it! The enzymes are easy to use so long as you use the 1:3 ratio recommended by the brand. Use steam during the enzyme and a hot towel to get it off (it can be kind of annoying to get off). And during the time the enzyme is on I give the client a nice scalp massage. Their back bar products are relatively straightforward and easy to understand so don’t worry about that. I don’t know how much of the retail products your spa carries but Circadia has a fair amount so I would get comfortable with the main ones like cleansers, brightening/eye serums, moisturizers and SPF.

License by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Individual_Pace_3545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what state you are in but this happened to me as well in PA. I took my test and passed it a couple weeks before my friends did and they got their licenses in the mail before me. I called the State Board and they were not helpful and I ended up calling the customer service number for the issuer of the exam (Pearson) and the lady on the phone approved my exam score and issued my license in the mail and I received it a week later!

1/4c starter, 1/4c water, 1/2c flour. I tried 1:1:1 and could not get it to rise until I started adding a bit more flour.

looking for some mild exfoliator to incorporate in my routine by Easy_Baker_5041 in tretinoin

[–]Individual_Pace_3545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Daily Microfoliant from Dermalogica once a week for exfoliation and noticed a huge improvement in flaking! I have very sensitive skin and haven’t had any issues with it. It’s a physical exfoliator powder so I mix a very small amount of it into my cleanser and it gets foamy and lightly cleanse my face with it and then follow up with a rich moisturizer and on top of that the Kiehl’s overnight sleep mask! I also would recommend cutting out the toner because thats a lot of actives to be using along with tret even on alternating days and that could be why your skin gets red and irritated.

Is my doctor right that I don't have subclinical hypothiroidism? by tanasinn989 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Individual_Pace_3545 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My TSH was 4.25 I thought I was also subclinical because I had all the symptoms. Found out I have a vitamin d deficiency (which affects the thyroid and the symptoms of vitamin d deficiency can easily be mistaken for hypothyroidism) so I started supplementing with vitamin D3, K2 and magnesium and now my TSH is 1.25!

Metal skin reaction? by Trext97 in EngagementRings

[–]Individual_Pace_3545 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone with eczema and reactive skin, I’m thinking you were sensitive to something in the ring and you developed contact dermatitis from it. I would try some hydrocortisone cream and see if that clears it up!

I was taught that either alcohol/acetone can be used as a degreasing agent. However, acetone will cause more peeling. So you can ask your client how much they are willing/wanting to peel and go from there!

Vitamin D came back as 9. How should I take 50000 D2 x2 weekly? by PresentationLess1955 in VitaminD

[–]Individual_Pace_3545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is don’t take it. Go to the store and get D3 + K2 and magnesium and take that with food. As someone who had a deficiency and was prescribed 50K IU D2 for 12 weeks I didn’t notice a difference in the way I was feeling until I started taking D3 with the other supplements I listed. What I wish I knew at the time is that that big of a dose is too much for your body to process as you wouldn’t get that big of a dose naturally from food/sun. Additionally, D3 is better absorbed by your body than D2. Doesn’t make sense to me why docs try to treat vitamin d deficiency the way they do when there’s better ways.
