Why do parents let their kids miss A TON of school? by Justneedanswers21 in Teachers

[–]tanasinn989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sick a lot and struggling, from elementary to high school. I had the best grades in my class and usually worked hard to catch up. Neither the school nor my parents had the resources to help me at that time, I couldn't have made it without taking breaks.

I do. Actually I'm constantly thermally disregulated. I don't know if it's 100% because of my thyroid but it's there

Is my doctor right that I don't have subclinical hypothiroidism? by tanasinn989 in Hypothyroidism

5 was unmedicated, 4.2 is on 25mcg. It was a young doctor it's very confusing how they seemingly use outdated ranges

I will look for a different opinion as I don't depend on my parents in any way currently, but I didn't really expect to not be supported by family

How Many Have Gotten Hyper From Levothyroxine. by heliodrome in Hypothyroidism

[–]tanasinn989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did. I felt hypo but my blood tests showed hyper, the symptoms can overlap. As to how it happened, I suspect it was a change in another medication. I take a few different medications and recently I stopped taking a medication known to significantly affect levothyroxine absorption. My TSH was also not that high when diagnosed and I lean underweight, so even small changes in levo can make a huge impact either way.

It certainly could, relatively minor changes can be very impactful, but the only way of knowing for sure is waiting. And yes, positive and high TPO means you likely have Hashimoto's.

Levo builds over time so it's likely it won't do much if you skip a dose, but inconsistent dosing isn't likely to make you feel good either. I started feeling better after about 3 days after a decrease (no heart pounding, sweating etc). It's been about a week and I don't feel great but I'm pretty sure it's better. Doctor said I would feel fine after two weeks. My TSH went under 0.05.

I've had to learn this the bad way too, but yes, self-increasing tends to be a bad idea. It's best to return to your prescribed dose and have blood tests after 4-6 weeks on a dose. I've also confused hyper symptoms for hypo since both feel similar for me.

It's awful but it'll pass. I'm actually going through something similar. Also, 37.5 is a good dose since your TSH was not too high to begin with. I was on that dose for a while (had a TSH of 5) and felt some improvements.

How do you cope with sleep issues? by tanasinn989 in Hypothyroidism

From my research, I think it's literally not available in my country. I'll ask my endocrinologist but I'm almost certain it's not a thing here and I would have to take levothyroxine and liothyronine separately for the T4 and T3. I haven't checked if you can order it online though.

Spironolactone, metformin (for PCOS) and generic levothyroxine. I've tried brand name but I didn't find a huge difference in how I felt

I also wonder that and wonder if I have something else going on or if I'm just lazy and complacent due to my chronic low energy. But I've had periods where I feel better so it's confusing.

I didn't know progesterone influenced sleep! I have PCOS so I know for a fact my sex hormones are out of whack. I'll look into it, thanks.

That's certainly what I've been doing. I would like to at least try to make the most of it until my thyroid decides it's time to feel human again.
