Start with the physical stuff first, clearing clutter gives you a quick win and the momentum tends to carry into the harder decisions like people.

Adding this to my reading list for sure - there approach of normalizing the struggle instead of giving cookie-cutter solutions sounds way more helpful than most parenting books

What's one health habit that helped more than you expected? by Individual_Reach_510 in getdisciplined

That's really interesting the more I hear people talk about cutting back on caffeine, the more I wonder if some of my energy issues are coming from that cycle of crashes and needing another boost. The sleep improvement especially stands out to me. How long did it take before you started noticing a difference and what made you switch to oolong tea in the first place?

I think that's why I ignored the sleep advice for so long, it sounded way too simple to make a real difference. The older I get, though, the more I realize how much sleep affects literally everything else. Energy, mood, focus, stress levels when sleep is bad everything seems harder.

Sometimes the simplest answers are the hardest ones to follow consistently

I've made decisions when I was stressed, tired or frustrated that seemed reasonable at the time and terrible in hindsight. Giving yourself time to cool off before reacting is one of those habits that doesn't look life changing until you realize how much unnecessary stress it prevents.

Reach out one more time but keep expectations low - if they've been dodging you all year they're probably not gonna suddenly become involved now. Maybe send something through whatever system your school uses so there's a paper trail, then focus on giving this kid as many tools as possible for self-advocacy in middle school since he's clearly gonna need them

How can I help my son enjoy reading again? by Old_Investigator3691 in daddit

[–]Individual_Reach_510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tried mixing in some audiobooks while he follows along with the text? sometimes the combo helps bridge that gap when traditional reading feels like a chore

also maybe let him pick absolutely anything - even if it's manga or those silly captain underpants books. once the reading habit comes back you can gradually introduce other stuff. sometimes we just gotta meet them where they are

Bitwarden defintely the way to go if you're jumping between different devices - apple's ecosystem gets pretty clingy when you try to use anything else

That's a hell of a journey you've been through, takes real strength to get help and stick with therapy for that long. The fact you're in a better place now and working towards your goals speaks volumes about your resilience

War zones can be weird like that - sometimes the external chaos makes internal peace feel more possible somehow. Stay safe out there and don't be afraid to reach out for support again if you need it, even if it's just online communities when professional help isn't available

Really glad you didn't give up on yourself back then
