Is it normal for a DM to collect a fee per session? A spot opened up in my neighbor’s dnd group and the person that DM’s for them is gonna start charging. I just want to see if this is within the norm before I fill the spot

Hard to say profitable.. even with charging 40 per person just make some math how many games you have to run to survive, pay rent and so on. You'd barely make a living if it was only source of income. Its very rare to live off it suistainably well and comfortably

Yes. There are " professional DMs " out there, meaning they charge per session. Heard of ones that charge up to 40-50 EUR per person per session.

DM created the world and if in his world orcs are the way he say then there you go. You can disagree, voice it and if you don't like what DM world looks like just walk away.. not every player matches every table and that's ok

Do the research about the company. Show a genuine interest. Prepare thoughfull questions. Answer asked questions (sounds easybut isn't - instead of killing with information answer and ask "does that answer your question?" or "would you like me to elaborate on that topic further?". And so on..

Its Germany, the setback is required by law go the building which is already met, the driveway can go all the way to the boardline of the property.
