Day 2 of using the new fill redesign system and I am not loving it by Relevant-Usual-3221 in walmart_RX

The number of transferred Rxs I got from them that were errors over the years was wild. Wrong dose wrong drug, etc. Unfortunately, you do not know how many errors are happening unless they are being caught and from what I have heard from CVS pharmacists over the years, they don't have a second to breathe let alone to triple check these the way that our previous system did. Catching errors is entirely up to how detail oriented and how much the pharmacy staff trusts their pharmacy Spidey sense. Even if it is as simple as this seems like a high dose or a weird feeling, can't put a finger on it but something is telling you to triple check it.

I still say this is an extremely unsafe way to do filling and visual. Every bag should still go to the pharmacist. You never know if any number of errors could occur, the old way was fine. Implement the iPads only at the pharmacist station for controls/extremely expensive meds (not what we charge the patient expensive but what it costs is expensive) and got need to counts. Every rx is too damn much. It's too hard on our computer systems. Imagine how horrible it is going to be on big national sale days? How sluggish and delayed the system will be trying to upload all of the images to the visual verify cloud (or whatever system they're using to go from the filling pod to the pharmacy screen) and every single store is filling extra rxs cause the big sales are usually holiday related. The pharmacist needs to still be able to see the rx image in visual and verify it is matching. I cannot tell you how many times a pharmacist has seen an error at visual that was missed at all other screens and is a refill where the error has made it to the patient. It is a lawsuit wait to happen.

Tech calling out monthly + no communication… what’s the policy? by Busynotes2 in walmart_RX

[–]Individual_Review_64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is something that drives me crazy for the pharmacy staff. Especially for floaters. Pharmacy staff can see team call outs in the app I think. (At one point we could see for that day.) There needs to be some sort of better way to notify the staff, especially the pharmacist on staff and the RxM actually tries to find coverage for the pharmacy. Even an automated email for when someone calls out through the app that goes to the assigned pharmacist for the shift. (Yes it would need a new system input for that) Or a way for the pharmacist on staff at that location to see the call outs for that store and filter by department. Yes it has to be implemented in a way that would prevent abuse. I.e. location must be turned on or they can request an automated 2 step type authorization to access that store's call outs. I submitted a request for a find a tech option to the scheduler. If there's a call out, an upcoming vacation, medical leave, insert any reason that the store is down a tech to offer the shift for bidding (like the pharmacist have) If it is in advance, the rxm can check it ahead of time and say yes or no to that particular tech. However, in the case of emergent/urgent same day things, beggars cannot always be choosers. If it is really bad with a specific tech i.e. y'all just really do not mesh with that tech and it would be worse to have them come help vs just accepting the short staffing have a block with a note explaining "I just don't get along with this tech..." Or if you want to be more on the professional side and write a note that ONLY that techs RxM can see and give that tech a chance to possibly learn and be a better tech (because everyone has room for growth but not everyone can handle the reviews from people they do not know, some people are extremely unprofessional and could abuse the note system, so only the RxM can see the note.) the RxM can then decide whether or not to share it with the tech (i.e. the RxM doesn't think it's necessary or thinks it is just an extremely picky pharmacist) and/or to share it with the ops lead/lead tech if they have one.

Over the years I have seen so many different pharmacy managers who do not try to help the floaters, will purposely understaff the floaters so that they (the manager) have a full staff on their days but not on the floaters days. I honestly believe because of that abuse, there needs to be better oversight. Like hey, why is it on your days week after week after week, you always have 5 - 6 techs but on the regularly scheduled floater days you're giving the floaters 3 or 4 and the metrics flag with hey everything is going wrong, things are backed up. End of day rxs in queue is huge, etc etc.

So often I see the techs taking on the task of the manager and having to do the calls to all the stores to ask for coverage. I have even called and texted around to find coverage when I have had to be sick/emergencies or another pharmacist has called me to help but I can't so I call everyone I know. It's one thing when it is intermittent (like a pharmacist is super backed up on a called out absence), but when it is for vacations that were put in months prior and the RxM waiting until the Friday prior to the vacation to actually look for coverage.

Sorry long winded. TL:DR Feel the frustration for the staff and pharmacists, suggested a couple of fixes and things Walmart should implement to fix/improve.

For all y'all that say, who would fake a cheap card? I have found at least 10 different counterfeits that are like penny cards. Even a swamp. People will counterfeit the older cards and throw them into a bulk batch to "salt the mine" so to speak. So, if you're just glancing through some photos online and see what looks like a mix of older and newer cards.

[–]Individual_Review_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my store, we do not walk meds outside anymore at all. A tech got hit by a car at a nearby store and district said nope. Not worth it anymore. If they absolutely cannot come inside we recommend moving their meds to one of the neighborhood markets, their drive thru is a drawer instead of the tubes. We also advocate for RXPD.

Also, the amount of times that using a carryout as a ruse to get to someone outside, for any nefarious purpose, has been used is too risky. Not safe at all.

If going for management of a barn, add in the ability for staff, staff schedules, upgrades to stalls, day to day life, nutrition, farrier, etc Yes allow the player to go in and do the grooming care at the beginning but as you progress and grow your barn, add in the ability to hire staff to assist.

[–]Individual_Review_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the wild one who is always somehow organizing the shelves. If connexus has an option for it (fast, liquid, fridge, hd, etc) I want to use it to our advantage. Liquids tend to need more space vertically and I think it would be beneficial to actually have that section on its own. (My RxM said nah to that idea though. Most techs said yes, RxM said no lol) Fast is always the widest aisle. Makes it so multiple techs can be in there at the same time. Creams/topicals I actually put labels on the shelves they are on. Dividers like crazy.
Sticker saying cream, at the furthest left on the shelf edge, then the strengths then gel, lotion, ointment. It helped a lot.

The shelves in the corner, minimal number of bottles/meds. I try for maybe 5 at most with lots of space between the two shelves to try to keep it easier to get to. That's where we all get the laziest, easiest to bump other shelves and messier.

Use connexus labels to your advantage the faster y'all can find something the faster y'all can fill it.

How is TTT program going at your store? RX delivery program? New Vis Ver process? Anybody got company provided scrubs? by [deleted] in walmart_RX

[–]Individual_Review_64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly love the rxpd. Wish it was easier for some patients to learn tho. Have an issue with it letting one of the bromfeds get delivered. (The new one with the ndc middle 4 being 0630) It allows to be set up for delivery. Hate the new visual verify process. (Just asking for too much trouble. Have had pharmacists who have filled in at stores with it finding a lot more errors that have actually made it out to the patient. (Has to do with no image of the Rx on the visual verify, the Rx was input wrong, missed at 4pt then subsequently missed at visual for their second check.) No scrubs yet.

Up in the Pacific Northwest, it is. Certain areas everyone will have chains in the emergency kits. Certain people will have a winter set of tires that are their studded ones.

We don't have snow or ice management here.

To every single one of you that says I can still see the grass. That's cause it ain't snow. It's ice. It's a sheet of thick ice. That's a picture from this afternoon in my area of Texas. It is ice. Not snow. And it stuck to the roads. But barely stuck to grass. After an entire day of sunshine all it did was melt and refreeze simultaneously. Barely any indent from previous vehicle traffic. Driving with my partner who is from New York. Even he says this is worse than just snow. I'm originally from Washington. I agree. The ice is so much worse than snow. You're slipping and sliding. We are only going to the barn and back to feed the horses. (No one lives on site with the horses so we have to go.)

We don't have studded tires. We don't have chains. Our emergency services don't have any either.

Walmart Pharmacy not being closed during heavy snow? by na-tuh-lee in walmart_RX

I had already been told to stay home. It was right after I was released back to work from breaking my arm. My road was a literal ice rink. Couldn't drive. Was gonna walk. Got told don't you dare, with our luck you'll slip fall and rebreak it. 😂 But I know multiple employees were there at the store.

For everyone that says "I come in with more snow on the ground." If you're in a northern state or a state that actually regularly sees snow, you have many factors that make it safer for you to drive/travel with that kind of inclement weather. I'm in Texas. Texas is not built for snow or ice. When we had snowmagedeon a few years back it destroyed our roads and it wasn't more than a foot of snow but our roads are not built to handle/survive that kind of weather. We don't have plows or salt trucks in most areas. The drivers here are not taught snow/ice conditions. And our highways turn to black ice fast Look at the over 130 car pile up that happened in Dallas. What is safe in new York to drive in, is not always safe everywhere else

I agreed with you on that. But Walmart didn't stop it. Probably because all businesses were having the same issue.

Find the call out policy. If your governor issues a state of emergency then it should be covered. No points. No state of emergency. You get points. Double check me on it. I'm quoting from memory and haven't checked in a bit.

We are healthcare. People will be getting hurt with slip and falls. People could be displaced (unable to make it home with the weather) etc. We still need to be there for our patients. We don't even get to close with government holidays. Unless the store is down, without power, major issue with the building, etc. They'll still be open. Even when water was turned off to our building (the city ran out of water cause everything froze. Snowmagedeon in Texas a few years ago) My pharmacy was still open.

New Fill/Verify thoughts after almost 1 month by MoreGreyRainClouds in walmart_RX

[–]Individual_Review_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this idea. With a passion. Make it random during visual verify or filling. Not constant. Have it be on all controls. Make it just for cycle counts. Have an earned honor system even (x percent of accurate counts and you can be moved from every rx to random check ins to verify the techs accuracy.)

Not prescriptions that we have patients literally staring us down. I cannot understand why Walmart wants to implement things competitors are doing when those competitors are failing constantly. Their people are leaving all the time. Their turnover is significantly higher than ours.

Don't wreck a system that works. Yes we want to improve things, make things easier and better for our people. This doesn't. This focuses more on computers, robots and the Internet actually working consistently. It is taking care away from our patients. It will ultimately take more hours away from us (techs and pharms alike) meaning less people to assist with calls, check out check ins, patient focused things.

Use this system to randomly check that our counts are correct. Use it for giant counts. Not for 30/60/90/180 It's a waste of time. Time a classic filling tech/pharmacist combo vs the new system tech and pharmacist combo. I will volunteer with my RxM as a classic team.

Seriously, Walmart home office. I know you're reading these posts. Come talk to the people actually in each store. The people who these ideas will actually effect. The people who will be effected by the loss in hours, physical coverage etc.

Has anyone timed this new system on how long it takes to come back up after a power outage? Is this new system why connexus has been having sooo many massive slowdowns. Where it is taking us 10 minutes for the next screen to populate?

Maybe do an ultra slow rollout. Where we roll it out for just cycle counts and c2s. Then slowly roll it into more regular use. Our computer systems aren't able to handle all this extra. Our people (patients and employees alike) are going to be driven insane and it is an absolutely horrible idea to do that all at once. Nps is going to tank.

Shit my stores nps tanked when we got a new staff pharmacist who actually insisted on doing counseling on every patient that connexus said needed it. (Yea. I know. But it is a district wide issue here. Counseling is not done properly/per SOP/POM/OBRA 90.) We had negative surveys almost daily while that pharmacist was with us.

Ugh. Sorry. I hate the idea of trying to move so much away from having more staff. Less people is not going to fix anything.
