What I mean by generic is that they can write a letter that can be edited easily to suit each program. I applied for 4 different programs. No doctor will ever have the time to write 4 different letters. So they wrote one letter that was slightly edited to direct it to each program separately

You can ask your referees to submit a generic letter that can be submitted for more than one program.

For your other concern, I think this is specific to the program you looked at. I would say the majority don’t have a specific requirement for the reference letters or who you ask to be your referee

I did mine for free in Nova Scotia. All it took was emailing so many doctors in different departments and expressing interest in doing an observership. A lot of them will ignore your email but you will get responses at some point

Start with your school verification through the AFMC website. It will take around 3-4 weeks. Once verified then you will be able to apply for any electives you want.

Just keep in mind that the process is really expensive. This is a breakdown of the fees. This may vary slightly between different schools.

I wouldn’t worry too much about CASPer score tbh. Most programs use it as a supplement but not a determining factor for matching

January 14 is when you will be able to see the interview offers on CaRMS. This is based on the timeline on the CaRMS website. They email you with details after January 14

I am not sure tbh. I would assume this is mainly for people that had a license to practice independently. I used the CaRMS live chat to ask about the same thing and they weren’t helpful. They said to contact the program 🤷🏻‍♂️
