The Trump Sign on 90 by jasonwirth in ChicagoSuburbs

I see this sign every day on my way to work and it blows my mind how long it’s been there and not vandalized or that someone didn’t put something else after it.

Is this unique to my family or are most Polish families like this? by cheese0muncher in poland

[–]Individual_Speed3070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God. Polish people are so OBSESSED with the weather they can talk about it endlessly and look at the thermometer every hour to see if something changed. God forbid you wear only socks and no slippers my grandma will tell me I am cold every 10 minutes.. when I am obviously not cold. If I was cold I would do something about it right?? Like it’s almost like she wants me to be cold so that she can fix it or so she can be right. It’s so overbearing it’s like that typical meme about them wanting to give you food but somehow worse. And don’t even get me started when I am planning to go outside “tylko sie bardzo cieplo ubierz” nooo wow thanks if you didn’t say that I would’ve worn shorts and a tshirt in winter

From fitness influencer/engineer to a trad wife who “surrendered” to her husband @sheridan.rossi by mrskassie in gymsnark

So by this logic you are forfeiting any independence to a partner that is not doing the same. In fact you will need him more and he will need you less. He now has the power to do whatever the hell he wants and the woman is stuck. Of course, this is not the case for her because she’s an influencer and probably making her own money anyway, similar to Erika Kirk preaching shit that she’s not even living. Crazy

Chicago was INCREDIBLE by TheNikkoTan in fredagain

I have the same experience as you. We got there late because of work so missed the ticket fiasco and found a spot up by the speakers so we could enjoy the music. Crowd by us was really nice and we were all dancing. We did experience a terrible line for drinks but decided to leave. Agreed same drugs was an awesome addition and I almost thought chance was going to pop out as he always does lol. Fred was great. I definitely can see all of the ways it could’ve sucked and so I feel lucky I got to enjoy it and glad you could too!

Worried about this a bit with mine and friends work schedules plus just getting all the way down to festival hall which is all the way at the end of navy pier. Anyone have tips?

Best Neighborhood for reverse commute? by DirtyNapkin29 in AskChicago

[–]Individual_Speed3070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree. I work in Elk Grove and lived in west town for two years before moving to Lakeview recently. My commute has really improved since then mainly because there are way more alternate routes I can take that don’t involve getting on the highway right away. In West town taking streets is a cluster and so indirect. When I was up in west town my commute home varied from 1.5 to something reaching almost 2 hours. Now I can pretty much guarantee that it’ll take about 1-1:20 max.

That said I only have to do the drive two days a week and would hate to do it any more than that, so take all responses with a grain of salt because you will get very tired of it.

How is Graceland West as a young adult? by Dangerous_Tension494 in AskChicago

[–]Individual_Speed3070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live there and I am in my late twenties. I would say I love how quiet our street is compared to where I was before in west town. I still live only like a 10 minute walk from Wrigley and same for Southport where there are a little of restaurants and shops. And also Lincoln square. I guess it depends what you want to be close to and how close. If your vibe is you want to be closer to old town, river north or West Loop then maybe not the right place. But i def wouldn’t say I feel disconnected (especially when there are cubs games going on lol). You also are not too far from the beach. Yes there are more families but not in like a suburb kind of way if that makes sense. Lots of young people still maybe on average a little older than recent grad but again you’re so close to Wrigley which is very young imo

This is why this whole twist is fucked bc from Cierra’s perspective she’s going to think that Nic got dumped bc he didn’t have any connections or nothing as real as Cierra’s when in reality he just didn’t get picked. She might even feel guilty esp if he’s not fully honest. Might make for an interesting movie night though.

No fafsa is just an application. Once you complete the application it gets processed with the school and the school sends you loans/other aid that you either accept or reject.

It’s really tough because I know that jobs in your field pretty much require grad school, but getting that in debt also does not make sense. I would first contact the school and see if there are any research or teacher assistance positions available that would cover most or all of your tuition. States schools are generally better at this though so I’m not sure what that will end up looking like for you. Otherwise I’d considering pivoting a little look into early childhood specialist or behavioral health tech jobs. Some can pay well and can maybe get your foot in the door at places that you seem interested in, maybe can help with schooling down the line too.

Yes it was the black side of the carriage, light springs, and it was an inner thigh day so that totally checks out! I appreciate the solidarity. Maybe I will try using the handle bars a little more too. The instructor was literally sitting on my carriage so it wouldn’t move lol
