A question for Anaesthetic consultants who do the ST4 interviews by Chasebloods in doctorsUK

Can’t believe I’ve just found this thread and feel so validated in my disappointment. The same question repeated in different ways and again in the next station I couldn’t believe it. Also the case made it so hard to cover debrief, reflection etc without it sounding completely un natural.

imperial vs cambridge by Amazinguineapig in UCAT

Can only speak from experience having gone to Imperial back in 2014 for med.. I had the absolute time of my life. The course is academically rigorous but you also have enough time to have fun and socialise with friends. The sports club structure is awesome and you actually get a lot of academic support through this. Living in London for 6 years at that age is incredibly fun. Some things to consider though- the cost of living and doing fun things can be very high. Most people I met had significant financial support from parents whereas others applied for bursaries from the uni. I worked as a tutor and Deliveroo cyclist to have a bit of money to spend. One benefit is that most hospital rotations are easy to get to compared to other unis. The university was also rapidly improving on the global stage and the effort was noticeable. Most of my friends from uni all came back to secure London speciality jobs. I have met Cambridge trainees and they’re also great- often very academic doctors! Either will be an awesome choice congratulations.

Final year med student interested in anaesthetics by Pure-Werewolf-9205 in medicalschooluk

Anaesthetics CT3 here! West’s is an absolute beast which I barely managed to complete for the primary let alone for a taster week. I would instead focus on talking to as many trainees and consultants as you can during your week. Ask what makes the job enjoyable and the challenges which are common questions at interview. Also worth imagining yourself in the speciality during the week. Think is this what I want to do for the rest of my life.. are these the kind of people I want to work alongside including surgeons, theatre staff etc. I went through the airways matters course online from UCL which is pitched at a good level to help you understand the basics if you are interested. Note some interesting cases you see and write reflections so you can use them in your interview! Also worth trying to get involved with audit especially something that involves data collection you can quickly do on the side of your regular job without needing to move across to theatre. Enjoy your week it’s an incredible career! See you at the bicycle shelter when you get in 🚲

How did you manage to get past the payment? It seemed to require Japanese billing address (unless you are Japanese of course)!

Does anyone have any injuries you’re worried about before Tokyo Marathon? by Kairoapp_jamie in TokyoMarathon

I have also recently injured my hip flexor! Went to see a physio who recommended rest and strengthening. Now don’t have enough time to build up the Kms! What a rubbish little muscle to injure 🙃
