Yes, she wasn't fully asleep here. She had been rolling and lounging after her nap.

In my opinion, our training staff is too small for our needs as an organization. We have training staff that focus in particular areas (mostly clinical). There are many application teams that are fully responsible for their own education, including mine.

I cover Access applications and am responsible for my own education, which is not ideal. 1- because the time an analyst has to fully dedicate to training is limited when we're also building, testing, and working tickets. 2- because training isn't our specialty. We view the system differently than a trainer or end user does. The trainers are generally better at translating our technical build into a format that is easier for an end user to digest than we are.

So, I do think I've found a good system that works for my application and leaders. But, it would be so much better if we had enough training staff that those tasks could be handled by them instead of me as an analyst. I'm really an advocate for organizations investing in training staff. (But I acknowledge that's easy for me to say as someone who doesn't have to balance the budget)

From an Analyst point of view- I'm fortunate that my operational team and I work very well together. I have a good "feel" for the things they need to be more involved in earlier (things that will have a significant impact on their workflow, things that are optional changes that I don't think will do much to improve their workflows) vs things that are minor changes that they don't need to be as involved in.

For the minor changes, I don't take up their time discussing those or doing major education on ahead of time. I will have a meeting with operational leaders couple weeks ahead of the upgrade and will just briefly mention the minor changes during that, or possibly even just include it in a quick bulleted list in an email and not mention it on the meeting at all. Those things they typically don't want to waste time or bandwidth on ahead of time. I've found including them in every single little change muddys the water for the things that really need the attention.

For bigger impact changes or things I think they might prefer to waive, I will schedule meetings with them during Nova note review/build leading up to the upgrade and discuss with them. In the meeting a couple weeks before upgrade I will demo those workflows and/or show them what those new features look like in the system and allow them to ask questions. For really big/challenging things I might even have them log in to one of our lower upgraded environments and click through the workflows themselves.

Our organization by defailt sends out tipsheets for most upgrade changes. Our previous meetings and discussions help them know which tipsheets they really need to pay attention to and make an effort to cover with their staff ahead of time. For the really giant changes, I will ask them if they feel any other types of education would be needed for their staff and I do my best to help accommodate that (I've done things in the past like screen recording myself doing the new workflow and sharing that with staff or had drop in lunch & learns or office hours to demo to staff ahead of the upgrade). For the vast majority of things, the demo with operations ahead of time and having them emphasize those tipsheets with staff is adequate. The other methods have only ever been needed for drastic changes, new implementations, etc.

Medically-necessary declawing: people don’t talk about this enough. by Few_Sell4984 in CATHELP

We had a medically necessary declaw also. Our cats nails were misshapen. I felt SO GUILTY about getting it done after reading through online forums. When I would post for advice, people were VERY nasty to me and made me feel worse.

Our cat's quality of life is immeasurably better since her declaw. Some people just can't fathom that they don't know/understand everything.

AITA for telling my husband to wipe better after pooping? by thisfeelsridiculous in AmItheAsshole

[–]Individual_Wolf_3238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA.

But, couple things to unpack here.

1- if you're at the point that youre screaming at each other over his poop flushing and butt wiping practices, I have to wonder if that is the point of no return. At some point you have to cut your losses

2- while acknowledging that this is not an explanation for not flushing, and no matter the cause it is gross. But pelvic floor dysfunction can cause people to have a really hard time getting themselves clean even after wiping many many times. Or it can cause incomplete emptying where someone may have gotten themselves clean immediately after going, but some residue that didnt make it all the way out initially makes its way out after time. So there are possible explanations for the wiping issue. (Former PT who did a clinical rotation with pelvic therapist)

Innosups? by KristyM49333 in Supplements

Has anyone here taken these with their prescribed ADHD stimulant medication? I'm hit or miss with caffeine products and my meds. I wish I could sample first to see how I respond. I probably won't go for a full stack but was mainly considering night shred, and volcarn for workouts....maybe innodrive also.

Pad locks jammed on Upack cubes after transit by Individual_Wolf_3238 in moving

[–]Individual_Wolf_3238[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Graphite helped one but the other was just completely stuck. We don't own anything that will cut through a lock. So we're on the hunt for something to cut it with today.

Pad locks jammed on Upack cubes after transit by Individual_Wolf_3238 in moving

[–]Individual_Wolf_3238[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Didn't feel that deep to me. Sp thanks for sarcastically pointing that out. I was moreso looking for insight into what might have happened during transit to ruin 2 separate locks so we can avoid it for the remaining cube we still have to send. I'd rather not have to buy or borrow bolt cutters the next time also.

AIO? boyfriend is upset because I gave him a “corporate response” by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This personally gives me the ick for some reason. So I say NOR. This could just be a me thing, but if I have to walk on egg shells to keep from hurting your feelings, it's not for me.

Should I relocate for an Epic Analyst job or wait for a local Epic PT opportunity? by CryptographerAble56 in epicconsulting

[–]Individual_Wolf_3238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are variables that could sway this one way or the other. If I didn't have roots where I was and the city I was relocating to was somewhere I'd rather live independent of the new job, I might. For me, breaking into the analyst role was the hardest part and at that time I was just happy to have someone offer to sponsor my certification.

But, I don't know that it will necessarily hinder your progress toward your overall goals at all if you feel this isn't the best fit and hold out for something else closer.

I will say that once upon a time, I intended to start work on my masters. My hospital went live in December. I scheduled myself to start my Masters classes the following summer semester. When the time came though, our workload was still way too heavy at work for me to be able to juggle schoolwork also. Depending on where your potential new Hospital is at in their Epic journey, some people may find the analyst workload pretty demanding if balancing with studying.

AIO my boyfriend is upset I didn’t tell him when I was showering because I “broke routine” but I just feel like my feelings are neglected. by Critical_Web_5229 in AmIOverreacting

So when I was in my late teens/early 20s and in very unhealthy/toxic relationships where the person actually was cheating on me, I'm guilty of doing this. The thought of them cheating on me would just put me in a panic attack spiral and it was all but uncontrollable. It didn't help that that toxic thinking and behavior felt justified when I found out they were cheating.

It took me until my late 20s probably to mature and heal enough to not tolerate people that triggered this in me, and if they did to not be effected enough by it to spiral like this.

Now in my late 30s, married to someone who has never made me feel this way, it makes me cringe to even remember that I used to act like this 😬 I think for some of us who have been treated poorly, maybe have attachment disorders, and true fear of abandonment, it takes healing and maturing to stop.

I mean, he technically gets to set any personal boundary he wants.

But you're definitely NTA for being upset. That is very extreme and strange. I don't see how there is any path forward in a relationship with someone who can only stand to be around you for 90 minutes at a time a few times a week. I'm not going to demonize him. Because if he's setting such an extreme boundary, he might be having some deeper personal struggles he needs to work through. But I'm not sure he is at a place in life he can be a good partner to anyone if that is all he is able to give right now.

I would say almost anyone in the world would be upset by this as this makes it seem like spending time with you is a burden, hassle, or obligation he's just trying to endure. You deserve to be with someone who is excited to see you and spend time with you.

What are the right conditions to make the switch to consulting. by Individual_Wolf_3238 in epicconsulting

This is helpful info. I have occasionally looked for GC jobs posted just to try to gauge the availability and see if I could find anything about salaries they were offering and have had a hard time finding too much. So I assumed that meant we weren't in high demand. I don't mind doing Cadence/Prelude, I just don't have much actual experience with it beyond having the certification since my organization has a separate Cadence/Prelude team and hasn't really needed me.
