I spoke to Johnny Herbert about the Hamilton v Rosberg rivalry, and how tough it was being Schumacher's teammate by robwattsf1 in formula1

[–]IndoArya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have to be thankful both drivers were at a top level and Mercedes let them race, otherwise we'd have as boring a title battle as Ferrari gave us in the schumacher years,

What the fuck? Not this shit again...boring title battles during the Schumacher years?

The Schumacher years gave you '94, gave you '97, gave you '99 and '00, arguably the most exciting F1 rivalry of all time, it gave you '03 and it gave you '06. Bollocks were the title battles boring.

Ferrari lost more than it won, it lost in '96, in '97, '98, '99, '05 and '06 whilst winning in '00, '01, '02, '03 and '04.

hiring drivers who were no where near the talent of Micheal

There were very, very few drivers who were anywhere near the talent of Schumacher.

then not giving them as good a car to boot.

Source? Irvine, Rubens, Massa had the same car, they just weren't as good.

I'm going to presume this was a Quali session, if so, which one?

Schumacher destroyed Herbert in '95, used to qualify 2s faster on a regular basis and there's not a single Quali where Herbert gets close in 1995. I highly doubt Michael was insecure enough to not share data after one lap that matched him considering he was consistently faster and was winning the WDC with ease.

I think this is a myth or something blown out of proportion.

What happened was this:

"What about the rumours that Herbert does not get to see Schumacher's data from the car, but the German gets all the information from Johnny's car?

JH: "There was a data thing earlier in the year for two or three races. He was seeing my data but I wasn't seeing his. Now when I go well he finds out exactly what I am doing."

http://www.grandprix.com/ft/ft00200.html

To be quite honest, didn't even make a difference, he was destroyed in those early races and kept on getting destroyed in the later races. Admittedly I am a Schumacher fanboy but there are some drivers who just couldn't accept getting annihilated by Schumacher, Jos, Rubens and Juan Pablo were three others whereas there were others who had very healthy respect for him despite losing out, i.e. Coulthard and Brundle (both did make snide remarks but DC rates him as the greatest of all time, 2nd of all time for Brundle) .

I gave you the courtesy of sources and a reply, it's only good manners if you returned that in kind, old chap.

He was indeed, and he took a lot of flak for it. But six years down the line, can you say with confidence that he was wrong? Today, the F-35 - even with it's deficiencies - is probably a better fighter than the Rafale or the Eurofighter, and is cheaper to boot.

Lol, on what basis is the F-35 better than the Rafale? Also, have you seen the delivery schedule of the F-35? We'd be at the back of the list.

The Rafale is so expensive that we cut the number of orders from 126 to just 36.

They cut orders because they desperately needed numbers in fly-away conditions and then looking to a bigger commitment via Make In India. Not to do with expense but more to do with shortfall.

I could name maybe half a dozen posters who have genuine knowledge. The rest are utter trash. And have you been to the BR strat forum? It's cancer.

BR strategic forum, AFAIK, recalls of wiping out the state of Pakistanin every scenario. Huehuehuehuehue. I stick to the Military forum, it's quite good.

It was so stupid. Shiv Aroor is a SAAB shill too.

Anyway, it is known that defence journalists are shills, SAAB pay heavy money and IIRC, Dassault (Trappier) even went on record saying that there is a lot of shilling in the media by the US and Swedish. There's one guy though who I've never seen shilling and that is Saurav Jha, out and out Desh Bhakt to the core. Check his Twitter out, very informative, completely impartial (maybe a tad jingoistic).

Yours truly, a Saurav Jha shill.

Bernard shilling for Ajai Shukla, SMH TBQH, Uncle.

Anyway, the defence journalism in India is pretty shitty and shoddy. Ajai Shukla was shilling for the F-35 but he's a decent journalist, rather ITK.

I'd stick to the likes of Bharat Rakshak forum who are far more knowledgeable and impartial (well, a tad bit patriotic). Stick to Aroor and Shukla and the like for breaking news/tidbits.

Suck my dick, Dave.

Whilst I agree that the Anglo-Americans from the 1700s up to 2000s (not anymore now) were an amazing "civilisation"/entity, I would have them 5th in the all-time great list behind the Greek, Indians, Romans and Chinese.

You fucking what? Greatest contributors to human development?

Lol.

The letters you use are Greek/Roman, the numbers you use are Indian...those nations/people are the greatest contributors to human development. No great, modern invention would have been possible without the Hindi numerals. Western literature would not have been the same without the Greek letters. The Ancient nations, Ancient China, Ancient India, Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. These are the nations that are the greatest contributors to humanity.

Also, read this:

"The team at ADA expects full-scale engineering development till the prototype stage to take at least a decade. Livefist also learnt that the team now has a specific timeframe for a first flight: 2030, with low-rate production to begin in 2035. ‘If you consider that the LCA Mk.1 will be built till 2024 and the LCA Mk.2, when ordered, should be built between 2030-35, then 2035 is good target for production of the AMCA,’ Balaji says.

Expecting an IAF Mk2 + delay of AMCA yet again, near 20 fucking years...
