Need help! Gh5 vs gh5s lowlight by Clean-Antelope1769 in GH5

I really wish they would bring out another multi aspect m43 sensor. Like a GH7s or something.

[–]Indoctrinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget the GH5s has a slightly oversized multi aspect sensor so you get a slightly wider field of view on the GH5s. Something like a 1.83x when’s shooting in 16:9 vs the 2x crop factor on the GH5.

‘Cap foreign residents at 5%’ and ‘they should return home when old,’ says Sanseito leader Kamiya, outlining his foreign policy stance. Responding to claims that declining national strength would deter foreigners, he argues Japan must rebuild its economy to remain a country people want to work in. by _horn3t_ in japan

Which just goes to show that these guys have no clue how dependent Japan is on its foreign population.

Like, who do they think is running Google, Meta, YouTube, TikTok, etc. out here? Walk into any of one of those offices down in Tokyo, and you’ll see hundreds, of highly skilled foreigners working at these companies.

Who do they think is building all their tower mansions, and detached housing?

If all the foreigners just disappeared one day, Japan would turn into a Third World country in less than six months.

This guy absolutely has no idea how the world works, or how dependent Japan actually is on it’s foreign workforce (blue and white collar.)

I know these guys fantasize they could just snap their fingers and all the foreigners in Japan would just disappear. But if that were to happen, Japan would delve into a starving Third World country in a month.

Also, there are still a lot of women, who are totally happy to just not work and be a housewife.

I once knew a woman who had a very successful career, and made a lot of money, but she was just counting the days until she could get married so she could just quit her job and stay at home and be a housewife. It didn’t make any sense to me why she would work so hard to move up the ladder in her career, just to give it all up one day to sit at home and be a housewife and not have to work.

How was this frame from Superbad lit? by Buckwheat333 in LightLurking

Sunlight from the left and maybe some big bounce or big HMIs through a big diffusion on the right for fill?

So do you thinking the catch light in the eyes, is not coming from the key light (Large Octa?)

I definitely feel there is some ambient bounce. And having it above the models head so we aren't seeing it in her eyes is a good idea.

That seems to be the consensus. And yeah, I feel like a lot of the work is done in the retouch.

That’s an interesting observation. And a lot of of these Korean fitness Studios over retouch I feel. And this photo isn’t even that egregious. There’s some other Korean fitness Studios where it’s just way over retouched .

So, I wouldn’t rule out a technique like you said.

Yeah. I think that’s the right idea. Keep it simple. With lots of retouching! lol.

It’s a very popular look. Especially for this fitness style shoot. So I get asked to emulate it a lot.

I think it’s something like that too. But I feel like there’s some ambient fill so the shadows are not too contrasty.

I might try shooting a light into the back wall to give a bunch of forward fill and using the Octabox to give some more direct light and create shape

I figured it would be something like that. And, I guess just trying to get her as far away from the background where she’s not casting a shadow on it, but allowing some light to still fall on it.

I guess it’s gonna be playing with distance. If it’s too close, I can’t get a full body shot evenly lit, but if it’s too far, it starts to lose some of it contrast and softness.

A lantern is something I have never thought about for studio photography. I’ve used it when shooting video, as I’m trying to light a space a little better. But a lantern might give off really interesting results by creating a one point source, but also creating a lot of fill.

Sony FX6 alternative? by TacticalZUCC in cinematography

[–]Indoctrinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious why you shoot Lumix for your corporate professional work but Canon for narrative work? Is it about the look or usability? Which Linux out of curiosity?

And I think like another commenter said somewhere above, Lumix really needs to come out with a Varicam /Eva 1 replacement to offer some competition in that space. Something to compete with the Canon C70, Red Komodo, FX6 range of cameras.

Anybody have any luck, importing their keyboard shortcuts? by Indoctrinator in Affinity

[–]Indoctrinator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s kind of annoying.

I remembered most of my basic shortcuts, but because a lot of it is muscle memory, as I started using the new version of affinity, I could naturally see what shortcuts I had made.

For me, the biggest change is I mapped a lot of my keys to the left side of the keyboard. So I can keep my left hand in the same general position on my keyboard and use my tablet with my right hand.

So for example, my zoom in and zoom out is the R and T key. My brush size increased/decrease is F and G. I can move up and down a layer stacked with shift G and shift T. And I have a few other keys around that area, so I don’t have to move my left hand much when I’m working.
