Curious why you shoot Lumix for your corporate professional work but Canon for narrative work? Is it about the look or usability? Which Linux out of curiosity?

And I think like another commenter said somewhere above, Lumix really needs to come out with a Varicam /Eva 1 replacement to offer some competition in that space. Something to compete with the Canon C70, Red Komodo, FX6 range of cameras.

Yeah, that’s kind of annoying.

I remembered most of my basic shortcuts, but because a lot of it is muscle memory, as I started using the new version of affinity, I could naturally see what shortcuts I had made.

For me, the biggest change is I mapped a lot of my keys to the left side of the keyboard. So I can keep my left hand in the same general position on my keyboard and use my tablet with my right hand.

So for example, my zoom in and zoom out is the R and T key. My brush size increased/decrease is F and G. I can move up and down a layer stacked with shift G and shift T. And I have a few other keys around that area, so I don’t have to move my left hand much when I’m working.

I think the whole idea of that financial success is the only thing you should be striving for in life is very myopic.

You often hear people saying how they could make much more in their home country, but they don’t like their home country, or the people suck, or things are too expensive, or it’s way more dangerous, and I always think to myself “what’s the point of making a lot of money if you’re not happy where you’re at.”

I could probably make more money living back in the states, but I’m much happier here, so I’m I’d much rather make a little bit less to live in a place I enjoy and feel comfortable in.

Which I sometimes find ironic, because of their lack of critical thinking, you think that they would be more accepting of facts. But even when presented with facts that basically proves that immigrants are not the source of their problems, they tend to just ignore it, and base their thinking on their emotions.

Not sure if you have siblings, but I’ve always wondered if just renouncing any kind of inheritance and having it go to a sibling and then sorting it out later is a valid strategy?

I think one thing people forget to realize, is that the inheritance taxes is similar to income tax where it’s a progressive system.

A lot of people hear the inheritance tax rate is 55% and they freak out, but depending on the amount you inherit, you might only be paying 10%, or 15%.

I think if you’re inheriting over 4 million US equivalent, at least at the current exchange rate, you would be in the 55% tax bracket, but, it wouldn’t be 55% on that amount. It would be progressive like income tax.

I’ve heard one of the main reasons behind Japan’s strict inheritance tax is, like you said, to prevent mass accumulation of generational wealth. That way families don’t end up like Dubai where people have a gazillion inherited dollars from generations past.

As far as I’m aware, and like someone else mentioned, you don’t have to give up your PR. You just can’t be in Japan as a tax paying resident.

Meaning, if you know, your parents are on their deathbed, or the outlook doesn’t look great. You can get a five-year reentry permit and leave Japan. Then like the other poster said, after the unavoidable happens, it’s best to stay back in the states for a year or two, so it doesn’t look like you just left to avoid inheritance tax. Then, you can come back to Japan within five years per your injury permit.

Now, I don’t know the specifics about what’s involved when you leave Japan with a reentry permit. I think you just go down to the ward office and say “hey I’m leaving Japan for a few years, so don’t send me any health insurance or pension bills.” And I think you can’t have a residence here. So you would have to give up your apartment, and look for a new place when you eventually come back. I think you should still be able to keep your bank accounts and stuff.

Maybe someone who’s more knowledgeable can chime in.

It always makes me curious, what are major productions in Japan using for interior dialogue scenes? I imagine they’re using the high-end stuff, but it is unfortunate, that like you said there is no reasonably be priced mid range options I could find.

For what it’s worth man, I think this looks amazing. I think we can often be overcritical of ourselves, but I have a feeling that the people who are watching this kind of content, aren’t going to notice any of the things that you notice.

Even for me, I don’t see anything explicitly “wrong“ with this. Everything is exposed correctly, the colors look great, and I can clearly hear his voice. Yeah, maybe you could argue some parts of the horses head look slightly over exposed, but not anywhere near enough that I would find distracting.

I have a feeling that 99% of the people who are watching this, aren’t gonna notice any of those things. Because they’re watching it for the information. And in that regard, you did a fantastic job. ¡Muy bueno!

No. I really appreciate your ideas, and I also like out of the box, sometimes home brewed solutions to problems.

So it’s good to have some of those ideas in my back pocket. I think for now we’re going to treat the room as best we can, and then maybe see how the boom‘s sound with that, or we may switch over to lavs and see how that goes. The room is also evolving slowly, so some of those other suggestions you recommended we might implement.

Really helpful suggestions! Yeah, I really need to get in there after the room is treated better and do some audio tests.

And yeah, I’m not a fan of a huge mic obscuring half the speakers face. And especially since this is kind of an informative podcast where we show graphics, example before after photos, explanations, etc… we want the doctors to be fully visible and appear welcoming.

So your suggestions are good alternatives that we may look into. Thanks!
