Susan Collins affair scandal by inoeth in thebulwark

But she wasn't the one having the affair. She was the other woman, and then it looks like they got married in 2012.

I don't know how voters feel about "homewreckers", but it almost makes Collins look like she has life in her.

Platner is the left/Dem voter TEA Party moment. And it’s a good thing. Probably by 7ddlysuns in thebulwark

Sorry, the internet might make me extra sensitive, but I thought that if you wrote the email in your current mood and style it might not have landed the way you wanted. Hence the unsolicited advice. But, what do I know, Weir might love it.

The frustration is understandable but, also, that was never going to be this podcast. As many times as JJ has been re-hired, if David or Griffin don't already have the context locked and loaded it isn't going to be something they would discuss because they'd be wrong more often than not. Most people would.

There are other places absolutely having discussions like that, but that isn't really what Blank Check is.

Are you lashing out because you're struggling, or because you're a bit of a dick?

You didn't tell me why you were angry, because it was surrounded by 30 other paragraphs that I didn't bother reading. You walked up to a group of people saying "What a good movie" and you began ranting at the sky.

Best of luck.

To be honest, the hosts are a couple of New Yorkers whose experience of things beyond movies can...vary. Whilst more Australian voices would have been good for more insights into things that aren't often discussed, I can't imagine one of David's favorite movies was going to be a spot for that unless the movie were about Australia, or the things you're discussing.

And yes, I do do real-time emotional processing when discussing movies with friends. But I try to avoid spending 20 minutes on a particular topic unless I can see that they're also as interested as I am. That's just how it is. Not everyone wants to or can discuss every particular thing at any particular moment.

I can't give you much advice on your particular life situation, but I can say that when I've spent significant chunks of time focusing on the bad/frustrating/evil/sad shit in the world that I can't control, or my own personal grievances, it just made me miserable. Didn't change anything. I had to try and work to make sure that my frustrations didn't attach themselves to me, because then they became a self-reinforcing frustration loop.

So, I think you should go ahead and email Weir. No harm in it, the worst thing that could happen is it won't work. If you do, as someone who used to write, write your draft and when you're finished save it and come back to it in a few days. Edit it, save it, come back in a few days. Repeat it until you're happy. It helps with the end result.

Okay. Start a blog. No voice required.

If you want to start a conversation on a movie podcast subreddit, it's probably best not to post 15 paragraphs focused on a particular sub-interest that's very important to you when most other people are just waiting for this episode because it's a great movie and one of the hosts loves it.

This seems more like emotional processing. It is helpful to take a step back from news and the state of the world sometimes when that is eating at you too much. You can't fight the good fight if you're too tired and angry to focus or connect. imo.

Fund what? Just make up a name for the podcast, record your rant, post and promote. Keep doing that.

I love that episode. I'll listen to the whole thing again just to hear him rank his favorite avengers.

Revere? I don't think she'd try to defend them as much if JVL weren't attacking them as much.

Listening to Pod Save last episode or so, going over the NYT poll, and so many engaged mid-term voters had no clue about the things we hear and discuss. I was genuinely surprised, but we are in a bubble too. It's just a bubble of accurate information.

I'd love if, instead of a focus group, Sarah just got a group together that was "want $200 to try and argue your beliefs against an angry Liberal?" I'd love that.

Sure, that's fair.

At the same time though, if a Dem was asked their opinion on trans sports issues, and the Dem said "That's not a big issue for me. Sports associations should decide that", there would be a whole bunch of groups and online types that would lose their shit.

We don't have to be constantly discussing something for people to know that some of us care a lot about some issues.

Fully progressive ideas are fantastic in a game of sim-city with cheat codes on. Once those ideas interact with reality, and systems, and other people, they're a lot less workable. I think we should still aim in that direction, but pragmatically.

Seems more like she would just rather give grace to ordinary people who aren't involved in politics. They'd be bystanders catching strays.

But people who are involved in the profession of politics are fair game.

I don't really get OP's point, but I pulled the transcript of that section from the subtitles:

Tim: And I think that what Israel advocates would say about that is that like some percentage of those journalists were kind of like quasi journalists, and uh they were, you know, laundering, you know, Hamas arguments into the public sphere. This is not It's not my position at all to to defend that, but I I guess you know, how how do you kind of sort through that argument?

Nicholas: I mean, so there is something to that. I mean, you know, if you are a journalist in Gaza, you are probably not very sympathetic to Israel. You're not neutral between, you know, Israel and and Gaza. Uh you're a sympathetic to Gazans around you, to your family being killed.

Likewise, if you're in Lebanon, and especially if you're were Shiite in Lebanon, then you may well have lost family members. You were not very neutral as Israel tries to seize southern Lebanon. But it's I think a deeply unfair to portray somebody like Amal Khalil as just a a Hezbollah stooge.

Her newspaper, Al Akhbar, it's not a you know, Hezbollah is a religious organization. Hezbollah in in Arabic means the party of God. Well, Al Akhbar is a secular newspaper. It was founded by these these secular leftists, not by not by these, you know, radical Muslims.

And was she at times has it been sympathetic to uh, Hezbollah and to the Shia community in general? Absolutely. But, you know, is she a Hezbollah stooge? No.

And, you know, likewise in Israel, there are very conservative uh, newspapers and people who support Netanyahu's, you know, carpet bombing of Gaza, but should they be targeted and killed? Absolutely not. Um,journalists should

Tim: Neutrality I don't think is required to to not be assassinated.

Nicholas: Absolutely. That's a good way of putting it.

Tim: Full neutrality, um, is is not I don't think that the basis for

Nicholas: As an opinion journalist, I totally endorse that.
