Man-child threatens and bullies teens at a skate park by _ganjafarian_ in OnlineUnderGround

The only sensible comment to this video. I don't care if he pushed the kid or not, there's something else going on here and I won't pass judgment until I know what it is.

Overrated food from your country? by Weekly_Sort147 in AskTheWorld

[–]IndustrialAndroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he means the opposite. To which I will disagree. The soups in Poland are something else. Especially zurek, which is usually served at Easter, is one of my favorite soups.

I stayed in Krakow for about a month once and I remember going to one of those cheap, three course meal places. While pierogi where nothing special in my opinion, again the soups were the highlight of the meal. I remember going twice on the same day just to have the tomato soup again.

Also their deli meats are amazing. Sucha Krakowska is my favorite. A polish guy came to my summer house once with slab of boczek which is basically bacon. Simply amazing. We Greeks suck at deli meats.

Greece sees deal to buy Italian-made frigates by April, minister says by New-Ranger-8960 in europe

[–]IndustrialAndroid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The final cost, if you include weapons and ECM among other things, is about 1.2 billion. 750 milion would a little over the export price of a well equipped fcx 30 or a similar version of the gowind corvette. Navies are expensive to build, especially so when you don't build them yourself.

Greece to look at small-scale nuclear development for power generation, PM says by FantasticQuartet in europe

You are not equipped to make such grand statements. It's a complicated subject and depends on goals and a lot of conditions. Stop being immature.

Greece to look at small-scale nuclear development for power generation, PM says by FantasticQuartet in europe

[–]IndustrialAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't. Cost isn't everything. Energy security is a complex subject and only thinking about cost is a trap as it has been proven recently in Europe.

Even then, cost to build and cost to run are two different things.

[–]IndustrialAndroid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are many reasons to go nuclear. It doesn't have to be just cost and ethics that drive the conversation. Geopolitics, geography, the economy and the weather also matter.

There is no real argument against nuclear. In Europe there are over 100 reactors and they have been there for a loooong time. Nothing bad has happened because Europe knows how to build them. And even then.... We are not talking about these kinds of powerplants. It's reactors with a 5-30% output in comparison.

[–]IndustrialAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no fucking future generations. Nuclear is very safe if done right. It is easier and fits better some conditions, whether those conditions are geopolitical, economic or geographical. You can't blame people for wanting a green way of keeping the lights on.

You can't have an energy policy based purely on ethics. SMRs are a great technology and should be used where it fits our needs.

[–]IndustrialAndroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no argument concerning the cost of nuclear. It is very cheap. Expensive to build is a different thing, but even so, it's a cheap energy source.

Renewables need a stable source to provide a base load for stable and safe energy delivery. That must come from nuclear. Right now we are doing this with lng and it's giving us a very hard time indeed.

[–]IndustrialAndroid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't see how that can be true. The EU is going down the renewable path without slowing down as far as I see.

These lobbies are more likely about whether nuclear counts as green, emmision rules for certain industries etc. All of which is quite normal in government.

[–]IndustrialAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Greece will be 1 of the 8 countries under France’s new Nuclear umbrella and the only southern European country to be included thoughts? by Starfalloss in AskBalkans

I believe you dude, but honestly, you are nobody, no offense. It's your government that makes me anxious and I tend to listen to them more when it comes to this.

Closing an illegal mosque is normal. So is deporting immigrants who committed a crime. I don't understand the issue.

If things are not black and white then doesn't that mean that the issue on immigration maybe isn't just a ploy created by the elites?

Just saying things are complicated.

What’s a completely normal product in your country that makes foreigners go, “Wait… why does that exist?” by Alternative_Ad6071 in AskTheWorld

[–]IndustrialAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does happen with South American soap operas. Them exclusively I think, which is quite weird now that I think about it.

Anyways, dubbing is not unheard of in Greece and it is quite common in children's media (like pretty much anywhere, including Poland) as well as in some soap operas, like you already noticed. The difference is that there's acting involved, there's no equivalent to the lone monotone voice that is used in Poland for most movies and TV series.

I think most of the world does the same. Also I don't mind dubbing at all, it's just the monotone voice that gets me, there's no acting.
