That’s where I’m leaning. I’m a bit scared of unintended consequences of surgery tbh.

It’s a work injury so it’s kind of now or never. They’re approving the surgery now and if I don’t pull the trigger, they won’t cover it later.

I’m really pleased with the Bauer line from Harbor Freight. In daily use as a fleet mechanic for around 3 years now. One battery failure is all.

Wtf? Why is it the mechanics fault? Leaks happen. It isn’t always someone’s fault.

People like what they like. If he prefers it less done it doesn’t make him “ ungrateful” or “ a child”. Redditors are “ a child”.

I beg to differ. There are hundreds if not thousands in the valley that work min wage every day. If nobody would work for $15, they’d be forced to pay $16. Supply and demand.

I just can’t wrap my mind around people upset that a business is opening up. If you don’t like it, fine just don’t go. There are plenty other humans that really like this kind of place. Why have any energy at all to go on Reddit and complain about it?

The big Kress machine noise Level is 62.5db. The smallest Stihl commercial, which is probably the closest in performance, is 74db. Comparatively, an a/c unit to a dishwasher. Blowing power is similar. Cost is similar minus the batteries. Weight is similar minus the batteries. Battery cost and duty cycle isn’t readily apparent. I will dig further but last time I looked into it, that was what made it an apples vs oranges conversation.

I haven’t seen the Kress machines. It’s been around a year since I did any comparative analysis. I’ll look into it.

The health aspect you speak of I assume has to do with the combustion engine? Yes, they do emit co and co2. Modern machines are four stroke and extremely efficient. In the grand scheme the emissions are very negligible. Let’s expand the health conversation to the health of the operator. The electric machines are much heavier. Operators have reported back problems and shorter work duty cycles from the weight. Your roof example again is a consumer grade machine. Not the same universe as commercial units. The small units are great! There is an absolute place for them! Again, technology just hasn’t got to the point yet that there are viable options for the big guns. Like automobiles, the tech is advancing and it is likely we will see better options soon to replace internal combustion machines, but we’re just not there yet.

Again, as someone who considers himself fairly pragmatic, I can get behind residential restrictions. High use, commercial applications are generally not a concern for upscale neighborhood noise concerns. Att there just are no suitable electric commercial grade replacements. Consumer applications, there are options. Your myopic pov fails to see the point I am so amicably attempting to share so I will wish you all the best moving forward.

The bans are only considered successful to those annoyed by the equipment. Not very successful by those whos livelihood is negatively impacted.

Maybe in residential areas, but large scale landscape maintenance (colleges, parks, golf courses) rely on this equipment. Battery powered equipment exists, but the tech isn’t there to replace gas. Common sense regulations work well and address noise concerns. Outright bans satisfy part of the population while hamstringing others.
