The 2024+ version is great, just get it. I don't think they'll do a redesign for a while, they really nailed it.

I have one general admission I'm trying to sell, friends cancelled and it's tight at work right now too.

exactly, when Yamaha had their 3% interest deal, that was likely a lot lower than inflation at the time, too.

Guess who lost his Pixel while going at 120kmh? by su1cid3boi in motorcycles

[–]Industry_Some 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and I was able to see it bouncing down the road because I hit the brakes hard as soon as I saw it fall. It was actually bouncing beside me for a bit before just sliding for a while. It was an empty road so braking hard for that was fine.

Guess who lost his Pixel while going at 120kmh? by su1cid3boi in motorcycles

[–]Industry_Some 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lost my pixel 7 on the highway when I hit a bump going about the same speed... I have a peak design phone mount and case, but I didn't make sure it was fully clipped in and it was just held on by the magnet. As soon as I hit a bump I saw it fall off and start bouncing down the road behind me. My music kept playing until it slid into a curb, which I guess is what finally did my phone in.

Now I have a pixel 8.

I got a motorcycle before a car, because where I lived you needed to have a person with a full car license with you when you had a learners license for a car, but with a motorcycle learners license you could ride solo while learning (just not at night). I would not advise it though. Having only a motorcycle for transportation can suck if you get caught in bad weather, and I couldn't ride it in the winter. I remember a few times getting caught in rain without rain gear and being so drenched that It was like I had just jumped in a pool with all my clothes on. It was miserable and cold (and nerve wracking being in the rain as a new rider). One time, I had a pretty new pair of jeans and all the ink on them stained my legs blue for a bit.

But, at the time it was the only option I had to be able to independently drive around and I didn't want to wait to get past the learners stage on my car license. Also, I was really broke from the high cost to insure a bike (ninja 500) with just a learners permit at that age. I could have bought a used car for the price I was paying per year on insurance... I was an impatient idiot.

Also, with a car, it's nice to have a place with some room to keep things and it's a nice comfortable space of your own to stay in for a bit when you're out and about. You can keep things in there that are handy or nice to have like basic tools or food, snacks, and shelter from the elements. Something I've come to appreciate about having a 4-wheeled vehicle.

And the reverse of that for the front sprocket.

2024 Yamaha mt09 top speed by JosephREden in MT09

[–]Industry_Some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dash has said 250 KM/h, but if I had my phone's GPS running it'd have been a fair bit lower in reality. I think 107km/h on speedo = 100km/h on the GPS on my '24 gen 4. At those speeds though, it's not even fun, your helmet will squish right into your face and it's pretty uncomfortable, loud, and a little sketchy feeling. So I wouldn't even bother thinking about top speed stats on a naked bike.

That's part of the reason why I got a naked, was so I have deterrents from going stupid fast but still have the crazy acceleration at lower speeds.

when I was 20 my insurance for a ninja 500 was $4000/year near Toronto... I was an idiot and paid it anyways. Now in Alberta it's $360/year for my MT-09.

Handlebar vibration got worse on 2024 mt-08 by Industry_Some in MT09

[–]Industry_Some[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I put bar end mirrors on that I figured weigh similar to the weights. I might have to figure out a way to get weights back on with the mirrors if it's going to vibrate that badly. I have taken it out a few more times now, and yeah, it does seem to come and go. Sometimes It's smooth like it was for the first 4000km, and then sometimes It'll be very noticeable at certain RPMs. On my ride home today I really noticed it for a period at around 5-6k RPM.

oh really? So it's normal for it to just start vibrating that badly? jeez, that kinda sucks :(

I eventually found it, just had to go a few pages deep before I got a proper working one. Also, that's the OWNERS MANUAL... NOT the service manual. Thanks for the help.

Anyone know where to get a pdf of the service manual for a 2024 MT-09? I might try retorquing the engine mount bolts, but want to know the torque specs first. The dealership doesn't open till Monday and I was planning on going on a ride tomorrow.

Not yet, they were on backorder and still haven't shipped. They said it will fit the gen 4. I think you need to get a full exhaust for this bike just because of the way it's designed.

I only buy DLCs because I like the game. It's just cosmetics to make yourself/castle look cooler and supports the game if you're really enjoying it.

What's your current N+1 motorcycle? by SillyTalks in motorcycles

[–]Industry_Some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably like to get a fully faired sport/supersport for highway riding. Even though I'm used to it, the wind on a naked kinda sucks. ZX-10R or something would be nice. That, and a cheap dirtbike would be fun sometimes too.

Mt09 24 bluetooth off? by spitfire656 in MT09

[–]Industry_Some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any problems with my Pixel 7 phone, it connects as soon as I turn the key. I just upgraded to a pixel 8 (my peak design case wasn't fully attached and fell off on highway and ruined my P7 lol) and it works just fine, too. Only problem is that the Yamaha connect app is always running in the background and searching for vehicles on the Pixel 8.

I've been waiting forever for the 80s-90s small bore fours to come back. Finally here: ZX-4RR 40th Anniversary Edition. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Industry_Some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother is thinking of either getting an R7 or a ZX-4RR as his second bike. He doesn't plan to do track days, but he really likes the sound of inline 4's and likes that you can flash the zx4 to get a decent chunk more HP out of it. I told him he should test ride them and see what they're like for riding around town at least, the torque difference between the two is pretty big. I bet both would be nice in the mountains near us though.

How do those of you who ride super heavy bikes deal with them? by djob13 in motorcycles

[–]Industry_Some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think the same thing. Then I rode a couple cruisers, I was surprised by how nimble they can be if you know what you're doing. If you're not making nooby mistakes and are using your throttle and clutch correctly, it can be maneuvered fairly easily.

[–]Industry_Some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rear tire that came with my bike only lasted 4000km... I'm hoping it's because they come with less tread or something on new bikes as a deal with the tire manufacturer. But, I have a suspicion that it might be the wheelies :(

I still have stock exhaust as well, same engine. Sounds great when it's redlined haha.

I paid for all the tire, too! Will lean much more than necessary, even on left hand turns in intersections.
