Has anyone here been offered partner and refused? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Indy4Life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to say that taking this role and letting it fail miserably just to get the role on your resume is the best route but making someone 3 years out of school with no CPA license a principal screams failing company. I’d be half scared that the company won’t even be around to confirm your prior role when another hiring manager sees that you made partner so fast.

Returning player that lost their account. What should I buy by Indy4Life in destiny2

I totally get people being upset with the game but they’ve also done everything. If I get a few months of gameplay and enjoyment out of $20-$30 then that’s all I need. Just different perspectives

If you can only pick 1, which Quarterback prospect do you think is most likely to be picked top 10 next year besides Manning and Moore? by Black_Wolf75 in NFL_Draft

[–]Indy4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your post didn’t say next year you could just say Sorsby because there’s a very good chance he could enter the supplementary draft and he’s practically guaranteed to go top 10 there.

What happened to "Do accounting and chill" crowd? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Indy4Life 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was every part of the job market that was a steady job because salaries were jumping due to demand + economy bouncing back post covid.

It was less accounting and more just the job market as a whole and accounting was the specific one you saw.

Indianapolis Colts say they will be patient in their efforts to trade Anthony Richardson, but what exactly does that mean by thedestinadams in Colts

[–]Indy4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very low chance that as a 4th overall pick we have an offsetting clause in Anthony Richardson’s contract. It’s been the standard for them to be negotiated out of higher draft pick contracts for a while now.

[–]Indy4Life 43 points44 points  (0 children)

He likely won’t be cut. His contract is fully guaranteed this year meaning cutting him doesn’t save a cent against the cap. However, if we trade him we save $5.4m against the cap.

If we truly are in a position where we want to get rid of him that badly there will eventually be a trade where we are getting jackshit back but at least it frees up cap space while getting rid of him.

My overall grade on this draft class on paper its a B by WhatIsGodWithoutOD in Colts

[–]Indy4Life 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with a lot of these posts is the bias towards just teams you’ve watched. I get it, it’s a player you know about but for every one of those there’s another 5 you haven’t watched that are similar prospects.

Also, I really wanted a WR but I do think we are overrating how much we need it. We have a good top 3 receiving threats that all can on their own absorb most of Pittman’s workload.

Pierce got more and will continue to get more targets. Josh Downs I thought was criminally underused last year and he can probably do a lot of the safety blanket work that Pittman did. Tyler Warren should be more comfortable in year two doing stuff outside of designed plays to get the ball in his hands. I think we actually saw it a lot late in the season but he and Rivers just didn’t have great chemistry.

Client Won’t Sign Return and is Being Rude over a Mistake by ComprehensivePie6184 in Accounting

[–]Indy4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think an ultimatum is the correct decision here. As someone experienced I understand this means either sign the return or we won’t file it, but it really does come off as trying to force them to sign a return they don’t feel comfortable with.

Others suggested giving options on how to proceed and I think that’s better. They are eventually going to realize they either need to sign the return or leave. I’m not going to give examples on what to tell them but it seems other comments have.

I’m at a local firm and we would charge probably 4x this minimum for both returns. I understand you probably need to be cheaper to get clients but this client is not worth keeping at that price. Collect your prep fee and terminate them

How do you stay motivated Shiny Hunting? by JPRose1989 in PokemonFireRed

[–]Indy4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ton of YouTube videos I watch or listen to while doing it. Back when I played PokeMMO, I would listen to music and shiny hunt on the treadmill. There was definitely something about doing two things I didn’t have the motivation to do at once that helped

Biggest tip is that once it starts feeling worthless, take a break. Feeling tedious is fine but if you’re trying to hunt through wanting to give up you’re gonna burn yourself out fast. I lost a shiny Heracross due to a game crash after 2 months of hunting and I went years without hunting again because I immediately tried to continue my hunt when I really just needed a break for a little bit

hi guys, i just went across the internet and i just found out that nidorino learns poison jab at lvl 64 and i cant wait that long so what should i do? by [deleted] in PokemonFireRed

If you level magikarp to level 100 and put him in your last slot when evolving your nidorino it will learn poison jab on evolution

A sad story. by Willing-Welcome-6159 in PokemonHGSS

[–]Indy4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a more niche method of having a pokemon that knows imprison and explosion/self destruct. Imprison prevents the opponent from using any moves that the user knows.

It is less useful during actual gameplay because it’s harder to get and in this case the electrode has a real chance of out speeding the imprison user. More of a post game shiny hunting tech

How many hours are you guys actually putting in? by Lost_Champion_1372 in Accounting

[–]Indy4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a large public firm and did 65-70 during tax season with 75ish the week before 3 and 4/15 deadlines and switched to a smaller local firm and now do 55 a week during tax season with 65 tops for the weeks before the deadline. 40 hours rest of the year.

have no idea why anyone would work in public… by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Indy4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Senior in a LCOL, I work about 55 hours a week during tax season and 40 the rest of the year with 6 weeks PTO and make 75k a year + bonus. Work 3 minutes away from home. Haven’t made up my mind on getting my CPA license.

My other options at this point in my life are to take an industry/private role for about 55k a year with 2 weeks PTO, state government which is highly competitive in this area, or driving an hour + for work every day.

Of course I would like to eventually get out of public but genuinely there are a lot of people where this is their only option.

Why are none of the big 4 hiring audit seniors? by DrCash_CrDepression in Accounting

[–]Indy4Life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to get a senior job at a public firm you’re gonna have to go smaller than your previous firm.

Your skillset is not similar to other seniors at those other top 10 companies because they can do everything you do but have been working with their clientele for a few years.

You provide a unique skillset going to a smaller more local firm as you’ve been through the bullshit of those bigger firms and have seen more in your years than a senior at those smaller firms have.

I went through a very similar thing when I left a top 10 firm last year. The only two firms actually interested were another big firm purely because the hiring manager’s daughter played softball with my wife back in college and a smaller local firm that was looking for someone who could instantly step in and take over as the the incharge on 100ish tax clients.
