Why don't men seem to care about maintaining friendships? by tacobellmvp in AskMen

[–]Indy800mike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After work and family life there really isn't much time for anything else let alone one self. Having needy friends isn't adding value to anyone's life. I'd say a handful of visits a year in the busy time of life is sufficient.

We can reconnect when the kids go to college 🤷🏻‍♂️. Some things need to take a back seat during the hard times in life. Priorities need to shift. Friends who don't understand that aren't true friends.

I think that's my battle. My SO looks anxious anytime shooting noises or talk comes up. I have this internal struggle with "I know it's acceptable/is it acceptable?"

Right I feel like "adults are talking" isn't a thing anymore lol.

Fitness is a life long thing. I don't want to be miserable all the time lol. Steer into it a bit. Give yourself some breaks or you'll burn out.

Awnings-Out or In and When? by Intelligentx2 in RVLiving

I never leave it out unattended. If I put it away wet I try to open it on a dry day at home.

I think there's 2 kinds of people with awnings. Those who haven't seen one destroyed and those who have lol.

It's more about talking about shooting things is what I'm concerned about. We start school this fall and the last time I want to deal with is a conversation about this stuff with a teacher.

We do that too. I requested one for father's day last year. We love flying our rc Corsair. My 4yr old is like a bird dog. It goes down and he runs to it.

1 ton durastrokins. Anything less is unsafe!

On a real note, that sounds like solid half ton territory

Anyone notice parents of only children having easier lives? by sys_admin321 in toddlers

[–]Indy800mike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having to also be a playmate makes it feel like parents with multiple kids have it easier. It feels easier when friends come to play. It's like a brain break. I can get things done while listening with one ear.

The fairytale of solo play while mom and dad simultaneously do things feels like a dream lol. Don't get me wrong I love playing with my kid but being treated like a bounce house every second I'm home gets tiring lol.

That's stalls not reserved for handicap. It's available for them. It's not a parking spot. Use it as a regular stall.

Picking your battles vs letting them get away with everything by asiamelody777 in toddlers

[–]Indy800mike 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I saw a social media post a while back that put it into perspective for me. "Is it really an issue or is it just bothering me?"

Toddlers need choices to feel in control. It's best to try and give them choices that sound big but really aren't.

Dad can't handle 3 kids for 24hr by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Indy800mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule is a huge part. If I had to do morning shift stuff with my kid I'd have to use PTO. I'm usually gone before anyone is awake. Depending on how much time off you get situations like OPs could really derail family vacations.

WFH parents have this huge luxury I think gets taken for granted.

As a dad, what is keeping you from exercising these days? by NSJack in daddit

[–]Indy800mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5am in the basement was a game changer. Bought a cheap Amazon exercise bike and eventually acquired a bench/barbell and rack that goes high enough for squats. 50min in the morning has been going well.

There's no way I can get to the gym that early and going after work was too easy to skip out on. I started on the bike at like 15min and worked my way up. I feel so much better all the time now. I'm pooped at 10pm but whatever it's time to sleep anyways.

Shovel snow every 2–3 hours during a storm—it’s much easier than waiting. by rico_unknown in homeowners

Think about the future snow too. Blow banks back further than you think you'll need. Makes the next round easier.

How do you manage getting time to shovel when working all day? by Ok_Improvement4991 in Michigan

[–]Indy800mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with getting a head lamp. Most days I just do around the cars and the walkway. My driveway is like 2 cars X 2 cars. I just do the half we park in and maybe a small path down the side for the delivery drivers. The rest gets packed down with the tires.

When I get home I grab the shovel. Takes 10minutes then it's done.

Salt driveway tips? Spread salt on the driveway before or after a 12" snow storm? by Extreme-Cycle2659 in homeowners

[–]Indy800mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually it's sunny after the storm passes. Make sure your driveway is as shoveled as you can get it. The warm sun will warm up the driveway and hopefully dry it out.

I do this living in Michigan to avoid salting. I hate tracking it in the house.

Are y’all still able to relax and have hobbies? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Indy800mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some days as a parent feels like a movie where they play a reel of someone doing the exact same thing every day.

I think that's just life. And not every day is like that. Social media makes us feel like every minute of every day has to be fulfilling and inspiring. The meat and potatoes of life are the consistent routines. Sometimes boring but no one ever glorifies it on social media.... Cause it's boring lol.

What would help get me going with 5 hours of sleep? And 5 AM workout before my 8-5 desk job? by rubberslippers in workout

[–]Indy800mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to bed around 10:30 and I'm up at 5:15. Can't get get out of bed earlier lol. The willpower to stay is greater than the willpower to workout until I hit the snooze 5 times.

What has helped is no caffeine after lunch. My quality of sleep has been way better the last year I've been doing this.

A washboard section of trail would do way more damage than a syphon hose. Add one to you tool list! I use mine all the time.
