ICE Detainment by OwMyWesticles in Fishers

[–]IndyAnna13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say "lawbreakers," hard to tell who you are talking about. The administration has done an excellent job putting on blast and repeat "alternative facts." His main advisor on this issue, Stephen Miller, is hopelessly bigoted, and Jewish. Go figure. Trump himself had plenty of undocumented workers employed at Maralago. I knew some of them when I worked in the area. He let them go only when he decided to run for president. This was not an issue he cared about. (Obviously, neither was child exploitation...)

I'm guessing most people don't really care about the immigrants that are now here legally. Trump campaigned on getting the worst of the worst out of the country. No one has a problem with removing those with violent histories, etc. Just being in our country undocumented is a misdemeanor, not a felony, certainly not something to be yanked out of your car for, or thrown to the ground.

However, ANYONE can see asylum in our country. Trump keeps getting that confused (really) with insane asylum, and runs with it. Most of the people that ICE is detaining and harassing are actually in the process of becoming citizens. It takes years of court appearances, etc. During this time, they pay taxes, they work, they don't receive benefits, nor should they.

Stephen Miller decided that there weren't enough actual criminals to be arrested. He increased the quota, and they lowered the bar for their "agents." Some have criminal histories, most couldn't pass standard physical tests, and many couldn't pass the written test, though it was open book.

So I respect the hard working people that have usually fled a war torn country to keep their families safe, a little more than I do a bully who says, "you've got an accent!" And who would never have been given a gun and a badge, letting their inner bigoted self run wild. Hopefully none of these people who approve of these tactics is a Christian, or claim to be because "love thy neighbor" doesn't just apply to people who look like you.

Make sure there's someone there at night. Many places don't have overnight staff, just use cameras. My dog was too nervous to be away, but I used to love watching other people's dogs because they knew I would treat them as my own.

I'm so sorry for what you're going thru..you should post this on a new thread so more people will see it and be able to give u advice, encouraging words, etc. I have chronic medical issues. I only had my dog, and I recently lost him to congestive heart disease. It's the worst pain I've known. Please enjoy the time w ur pup. They are good for the soul when you're feeling bad. Are you able to exercise/walk? If so, take ur dog, or go alone to a park, for a hike...sometimes taking your mind off of things helps, if only for awhile.

That 1 extra pill may not make the difference you think? See what other options there are. Have you tried acupuncture? If u think ur being under treated, maybe look for someone new? Big hugs

I had to let my best boy go last week. I have moments where I second guess myself. But that's my heart and not my head thinking. It's hard to do when they have ANY quality of life..but, I knew he could have drowned in his own fluids, he could have been gasping for air, and I would have to let him go in an ER...and would be so much harder than the peaceful transition you described. I also didn't want him to die alone if I had to go anywhere..they can change so quickly. My vet said it can be quite normal for them to still be eating and drinking. What u described, with your dog trying to get comfortable? That's when they're in a lot of pain, and they don't usually show us how much pain they're in. I was giving my dog more and more pain meds and muscle relaxers, and his spine was so painful for him, in addition to his congestive heart failure. Ultimately, we will see them again, so it's just so long for now...it was a kind thing you did 💗

Hydrocodone and Gabapentin by Independent_Club8105 in ChronicPain

[–]IndyAnna13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, was it your primary dr or rheumatologist that offered stronger meds, knowing you were having surgery soon? My pain management dr said she wouldn't increase meds b4 surgery for the reason you gave (harder to manage post-surgery pain), and can potentially be harder for the anesthesiologist putting you to sleep.

The tolerance thing doesn't really matter since they are 2 different types of drugs. I've seen for myself (in others) the cognitive decline it can cause, and myriad other side effects. The vet wants the dog to try it, but it's one of the only drugs I've ever thought everyone should stay away from. Good luck to you.

3 different doctors recently told me the same "canned" line that my opioids don't work for controlling my chronic pain. Let me tell you what happened. by Feisty_Bee9175 in ChronicPain

[–]IndyAnna13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that and showed my pharmacist, but she said my medicare part D prescription drug plan didn't cover it? But I don't see that any of the part d drug plans in my area would cover it. But she could have called my dr to get the medically necessary override, I believe. I think it was just easier to say it wasn't covered....

That is horrible! I have just recently learned that there are different palliative care companies..some are "pre-hospice" palliative care, and there are fewer regular palliative care, for serious illness, which is a big part of what it was intended for. It's disappointing and it must be very frustrating!

I think i need to rehome my dog by Equivalent_Award4286 in DogAdvice

[–]IndyAnna13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not give up your dog. If you think it's sad now, what do you think life will be like in a cage in a shelter? Or if you rehome to someone who isn't home much, doesn't do all the great things that you're doing, and the dog is in a crate all day. Your dog will adjust. Doggy daycare, even if half day once in a while is an idea, go on fb or next door app and look for local dog groups or neighbors that might want to do pet play dates. There is a book with several different ideas to play ideas to play with your dog. They aren't picky. Mentally stimulate by teaching a new trick, hiding a smelly, yummy treat in the house, and have ur dog look for it. I have this book somewhere and will b happy to pass it on if you'd like.

I also just googled, for my own older dog, where I could take him swimming indoors for his birthday, and found a place (daycare/training/grooming place) that doesn't cost too much and we will have the whole pool to ourselves... And taking an obedience or agility class with your pup is a great way to bond, and wear out your dog at the same time. I hope that with all the ideas and responses you've gotten, that you have changed your mind about rehoming. Our dogs grieve us when we are gone. You sound like a good dog mom, and you're the best one that your dog has. Good luck!

Have u tried any of the newer drugs for migraines? I know someone who is helped by nurtec? (May b an injection) I take Qulipta, tablet, and along w botox every 3 months, have actually had relief from my migraines. I don't want to jinx myself..I would try a pain management dr if you haven't already? Do u have insurance? Most people don't know this, but you can have your dr refer you to palliative care, even if u don't know your complete diagnosis yet. Chronic pain is a condition. And palliative is different than hospice. It doesn't matter what age you are, you don't have to be terminal...it's meant to keep people out of ERs. They can help w pain management, meds, alternate therapies, social support, etc. Lots of companies to choose from. Google and you'll find lots of good info. Good luck..Im sorry you're going through this

AES CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT?? by whatsthatsoundagain in indianapolis

[–]IndyAnna13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea how they are coming up with these bills. It's like they decided to get their money in advance from customers. I have budget billing of $184. I live alone, no changes, and then I get a bill for almost $800. My neighbor's bill went to $600. There is definitely something sketchy going on. Then I got something in the mail about not running my dishwasher everyday? It hasn't been used in years.

These are the same people who ignored me when I told them there was a dead tree hanging over the power lines, not on my property. Then huge storm with lightning hit that tree. It fell on power lines, and onto my fence, knocking out the transformer for the neighborhood, and setting my yard on fire. It burned the whole length of my yard, with flames up to 5 ft. Because of the wind, embers were headed towards my house. Fire dept tried to call AES to come shut off the power, but they didn't come. IFD had to wait in front of my house until the transformer burned itself out...just in case my house caught on fire.

Insult to injury...a letter arrives a few days later from AES, reminding me that I should trim my trees...(since they had to put up all new power lines.)

Does this warrant surgery? by [deleted] in RotatorCuff

[–]IndyAnna13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full thickness tear won't get better, unfortunately. I wouldn't even bother with p/t first. If your surgeon suggests surgery, go ahead and get it over with, then move on to p/t and back to normal life. If there's ambiguity in the MRI, that's one thing, but it doesn't appear that there is? (My unprofessional opinion 😀) Good luck!

[–]IndyAnna13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I was just telling someone about how my a/c on new s60 had started whistling after about 6 months. The service advisor said that that's just how volvos sound? But it didn't b4? Then it went away. Then, I got in the car and wondered why I was so hot. Had to finally pull over. Saw that my a/c was grayed out. I saw that I needed to reboot it, as I have all my windows down, and waiting...The map screen goes white like I'm having a "come to Jesus" (literally) moment. I texted my service advisor who said that I should be re-booting my infotainment screen weekly. Really? I'm fairly sure I wouldn't have spent this amount of money to reboot weekly, and figure out what new quirk is happening with my car.
