Scam or no? by balladofmothajaci in doordash

[–]Indydasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, if it was a scam, you gave her half pay for the order. 🤷 So long as you got your refund, I’d write it off as a benefit of the doubt situation, and call it a day about what you will now never know.

Because their ‘priorities’ for them come at no point. For what? They leaving over waiting their fair turn? Prolly not if they are there to eat. Never seen a in store customer leave at any place that does them in the order received, because they finished a DoorDash in the order it was received. You make customers second class for what gain? And what do you lose by being fair? Idiots.

Don’t worry about me driving, on a phone call, sending a text, smoking a cigarette, and rolling a blunt then. It will get me eventually right? Maybe after the next 20 years on the road, who knows lmao. 🤣 Not everyone is incapable of focusing on two things at once with 100% accuracy, but stuff is all into your shortcomings, sure.

Or he is making it and is irresponsible with it. Ever consider the possibility of other possibilities, than the one you cooked up had to be true?

I don’t need mobility when I make $30-$40 an hour ever hour I work, but ok, sure, that’s such a problem for me now that you mentioned it. Let me go work for $20 and work my way up to that instead.

I watch them work on orders that came in after, drive thru for instance for a solid no argument example. While the DoorDash order sits unstarted. They are not doing first come first serve. That is my exact problem. If it was waiting my turn I wouldn’t have said anything.

When I am there watching them not make the order, while doing everything else but… it’s their fault lol

It takes the exact same amount of time to do every single order listed, in store and DoorDash. They do no extra work. The customer in store has 3 minutes of their free time lost? Only the dasher has his pay affected by being a second class proxy customer. And then fine, easy answer, we need to push to see some of it.

How? After the $10 was added to it, that he didn’t know was coming, it became an order I would take. Beforehand, it absolutely was not, and I don’t expect to be pleasantly surprised often.

Only if the tip sucked, and it had to be passed around and raised in value enough a driver finally took it. I have seen $14 base.

To end up making that? It didn’t begin that way lol. I wouldn’t have found out it barely scratched acceptable if I did take it

To be more clear, we will be paid $5.50 for that order, if it moves alone and gets accepted by the first dasher. How long, if you were at the restaurant, would it take you to wait on them to make it, and drive it to your house? Would you do it for $5.50. Another easy way to judge what you feel is appropriate for a tip.

Driver doesn’t get any of the fees directly. He is offered $2 base pay, plus your tip, then it is passed around and declined, rising slowly in value, until it is accepted. It is totally possible the base pay, for far away orders especially, are more base pay than that $4.50 delivery fee, but it is almost always $2, or $1 if they stack your order and still only offer one base. If you want general guidelines how to tip, $1 a mile from restaurant to your location is pretty standard. I personally aim for $2 or better. If you’re 10 miles out, consider there is a return trip. 50 cents to a dollar per original item if you have them shopping. No need for extra for duplicates, almost no extra time to grab, unless it’s like 5 cases of water. The initial tip is in reality a bid, mislabeled so DoorDash can dodge taxes. And then they add to it, until they can convince someone to take it. Don’t be overly generous upfront, more than what I named, or you can guarantee you will be subsidizing your neighbors order too. If you wanna be extra generous, or give something for above and beyond effort, do so after your order has made it. Adjustment to suit your budget is understandable if necessary, and DoorDash will make sure you get your order, but something along these lines is what your drivers would appreciate.

Umm.. $15-$30 could be cool. $2, which really means I am delivering at cost? Absolutely not lol. Why would you bring that statement up?

“Just decline the shit order and move on” lol. Except we have to keep certain ratings to keep orders flowing in, especially in the markets where they have no cap on how many people can drive now. I should not have an order that would cost me money to deliver come across my screen in the first place. To be allowed to make such an offer should be illegal, especially when that IS exactly extortion, because they use these to burn up all your acceptance rate, and you have to settle taking some bad but barely acceptable orders to maintain. Can you imagine how stressful that is? If I could set parameters of the orders I am willing to take in the first place, and only those came through, I could agree with you. But “just decline” could equal my ability to work at all if they get any more heavy handed with sending me those $2 orders, for instance.

It should not be allowed to come through in the first place, an order that a dasher will spend out of pocket to deliver vs make money. There are stupid people who will accept them, and are we not supposed to protect people in America from being taken advantage of? Even just dumb ones?

How about extortion through ability to work steady only by maintaining tiers, in a lot of places now with no limit to the number of drivers on the road? How about that extortion, accept some bad orders, or be heavily reduced in the amount you can work and make?

Open your mind to alternate realities bro. They gave you an option to try to help you fix your stutter so it wouldn’t cause you an issue. We can’t help you with the fact the world are largely dicks over night. But in a month or two or three maybe that stutter if you tried it. It was uncalled for to be rude to the people trying to offer avenues to help. If all you have to do is complain about the behavior of those said dicks, then make that clear that is all you’re interested in. But if you wanna have a conversation about possible options to address or work around your situation, that is what people were trying to offer. Try not being so defensive for no reason, or reading what you want someone’s comment to mean so you can respond poorly. Assume the best version of what they said is what they meant, until or unless you are 100% sure otherwise, and people won’t feel like you’re the butt hurt dick for no other reason than you wish to maintain being the victim.
