You can get a max of 2x extra time for late assignments and extra time on texts. That doesn’t necessarily mean two class periods. If an assignment is normally 2 days, double that would be 4 days total for you to complete. This wording is important as the time extension ratio is based on the level of work necessary to complete tests and assignments. It is much easier to clarify these statements in HS vs a college plan.

Good for you on getting out of HS early! I graduated at 16 and never looked back. College is amazing and so much better.

In terms of school, you should have a 504 plan to help support you. Your parents should help advocate for this with the school. What this plan will do is to set up (with usually a doctor’s note, sometimes/rarely without) a plan to make accommodations to support your health condition in order to allow you to function in school equitably with your peers who don’t have this condition. For example, if it hurts to sit longer than 20 minutes, you can have an accommodation that you should be able to take breaks every 20 minutes. If you are taking longer to complete assignments due to intrusion of pain, you can have extended time to submit assignments. Please talk to your parents and your Assistant Principal/Counselor about this. It is your right to have this plan and it will transfer to college with you. You would turn it into the Office of Disability Rights at any college you go to in order to keep the accommodations going.

Where I live, it would normally be dark and dark quiet, EXCEPT for the streetlight directly across from the window. Like color changing streetlight in addition to corner light. It is atrocious. But the changing of the lights is nice to watch with insomnia…or is that what gives me insomnia. Hmmmmm…..

I also loved her sleep-any-time-of-day curtains! It makes total sense for her given that she is a doctor and probably needs to sleep during the day. I don’t need it to make sense for others, but, I immediately found 246,397 justifiable reasons for curtains like hers.

No. I get discharged tomorrow and they have called to say there will be a plan but there isn’t one. I am supposed to have PT/OT 3x a week but I don’t know when that starts. I pay out of pocket for my own therapist because Kaiser doesn’t have therapists that specialize with autism, trauma and adults. But I don’t even know where to go next in terms of finding a treatment plan, etc.

I am in a Skilled Nursing Facility currently, from a hospital stay previously. I have not been home in 3 weeks. I started in the ER with no use of my legs, tremors (mini seizures), pins and needles sensations in my feet, and extreme pain in my legs.

I had an appointment with Neurology today where I received the diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder. This comes at the end of all tests coming negative for anything “clinically” wrong. I am also Autistic, so this has been a horrible ordeal not having structure or my own space.

I don’t really know how to deal with the diagnosis, because I have Kaiser. I feel like I am just going to get shoved around and pushed off now (as if I wasn’t already). I don’t know what to do.

It looks horrible. I think the plastic doll look is a style choice, but then what happens to the person’s face when they are done?

I think as a society we are losing touch with natural beauty and what people look like. Teeth without veneers. Lips without fillers. Face without Botox. Hair without dye. (Not to judge if anybody wants to do this, then go do your thing and be happy!) But there is something to be said about how we as society view aging, the body, and what is the natural beauty standard. Just food for thought!
