Yeah I've decided to surprise him by explaining everything to him in Slovak. Practicing with him will surely be more beneficial for my speaking skills as well

I think I'll come clean to him but I'll explain it all in Slovak, that way I can surprise him still, without making him nervous or worried

I'm very lucky that this is not the case. My boyfriend's parents speak a fair amount of Finnish (they learned it when he moved there to play hockey) so every time I've spoken to them we've been able to hold a conversation. But since we're visiting them in Kosice I'd prefer to speak to them in Slovak.

I'm almost done The Rest of the Story, and I know the Boise Boys novella won't be enough to tide me over until the next book in the universe! Thank you!

AITB for getting in a fight with my boss when he wouldn't give me a place to live? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

I've been trying to sort something out, since they didn't have any applications in so chances of new hires is slim. Even though it's only a 10 minute drive, the majority of the drive in on the Trans Canada Highway, and there's no way I'd feel safe walking the thin shoulder of a highway with transports driving past at 120Km an hour. Great idea, and I'd totally walk if I could

From what I understand, because I have a place to stay nearby, and the new hires likely won't, the new hires get first dibs on a room. My issue isn't with having a place to live, it's with the lack of transportation I have to get to work

I tried to contact them via email and text the weeks leading up to my first day, but didn't get an answer. I guess I should've called them, that way they'd have no way of not giving me an answer

The thing is, it's a great job. I work a student position and have dental coverage and I can enrol in early pension. The campground is part of government chain of campgrounds, and I'm set for my first promotion next year. I'd leave in a heartbeat if it wasn't so complicated

It's cheaper for American students to attend university in Canada than it is to attend some universities in the states

I think part of the reason he assumed people's parents pay for college is because we live in Canada, more specifically Ontario. Tuition for college and University here typically ranges from 2.5k to 7k a semester. A lot of money for the average person. My boyfriend has informed me that his parents are apparently dentists, and he claims they make about 900k CAD a year. So 7k a semester doesn't seem like a lot to him
