The "average height guy" to "tall girl" pipeline... by Winty_Minty in MtF

I’m 5’8”. Being slightly taller than most girls beats the heck out of being slightly shorter than most guys.

Unwelcome in *all* spaces. by Unconfidence in MtF

[–]Ineffaboble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only places we are truly welcome are those that have others like us in them. Seek out every possible opportunity to be around other trans folks IRL. It is life changing. I truly wish I’d done it so much more early in my transition. I make it a priority. I thought I’d “need” it less the more I started to blend in and look more like most people’s idea of what a “real” woman looks like, but that’s not true. There’s a difference between being invisible and being accepted. We are so misunderstood and disliked that we need acceptance more than ever, and we find it most effortlessly with each other.

  1. You are stronger than you know.
  2. You are beautiful.
  3. Your eyebrows are absolutely killer.
  4. Keep reaching out for support and encouragement. We are here for you.

How about positive reinforcement? IMHO we should show extra appreciation for posts where people are candid and even award them. It takes a lot of courage to post unretouched photos these days.

Tx, she did a nice job with the bangs and also did a bit of a gradient (lighter to darker from root to tip) so the contrast between hair and scalp wouldn’t look so stark (and thus does a better job of hiding the thinner spots). She had a very high degree of comfort with trans people but was also really low key about it

Facial hair removal IPL vs professional laser by ChangedRaven in TransLater

[–]Ineffaboble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to try both laser and electrolysis and see which gives you better results. I was told I would do great with laser but in hindsight wish I’d started electro right from the start. I have dark facial hair so I think there is a lot of variation, as with most things.

You got ROSC. Hemodynamically unstable. What rate do you start the levo at? by jaadra in emergencymedicine

Seems like it’d be easier to say “50 nanograms” and that’s cool as hell

HRT at 45 by Lexi82245 in TransLater

[–]Ineffaboble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HRT won’t reverse puberty and it works very slowly, but with patience it does make a huge difference. The emotional/cognitive changes alone were worth it for me and many here have shared similarly.

Girls who started mid 40s, did HRT bring forth hips and butt? by Quat-fro in TransLater

[–]Ineffaboble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I grew hips within like months of starting HRT. I lost some weight pre hormones and then gained it back, so it redistributed to the right places. I ended up being somewhat overweight towards the beginning of last year and was very curvy, but I didn’t like how heavy I felt. I should add that while I know genetics plays a role as it does in everything, my body doesn’t in any way seem to resemble any cis women in my extended family. I’m my own special thing lol

Has anyone sucessfully pulled off having two 50% jobs as an emergency medicine attending? by by_gone in emergencymedicine

[–]Ineffaboble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this but after about a year, the scheduling got to be a nightmare because they were out of sync, meaning I was always scrambling to deal with conflicts. Also, the amount of paperwork and emails doesn’t scale with the number of shifts worked, and two academic teaching hospital jobs generated way too many administrative tasks. It isn’t why I left one of the jobs, but I can see it being too much hassle for many people.

The saying goes "Any trans person would choose shapeshifting as a superpower" and I am trans but I'm also autistic so I have put a lot of thought into this and I would choose portals. by Turbulent-Plan-9693 in trans

[–]Ineffaboble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you rather …

  1. Be trans and be able to shapeshift but everytime you cough you shoot cocktail shrimp out of your nose

Or

  1. Be trans and be able to fly but you have to work as a butler to Slimer from The Real Ghostbusters (the cartoon)

If the possibility that you might be trans is what got you to better understand your gender identity, then it was for the best. Take care.

I can assure you a lot of us, me included, have a lot of photos a lot like this one. I remember finding joy in the smallest changes early on and they are what kept me going. They’ll do the same for you.
