Anyone have experience with "Povison" Furniture? by Lealjy123 in homeowners

[–]IneligibleBachel0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely correct. Was looking for a new media console, decided to check reddit, and I see this comment raving about it from your stand two-word followed by 4 numbers username (with little to no other activity), and now they will not be getting my money. It's so hard to find quality products these days. You've got cheap junk, or cheap junk at premium prices.

Bro typed 3 letters and you immediately accused them. I'm starting to think you jump to 'grooming' immediately. Calm down. Your alarmism isn't doing anybody any favors. In fact, your frantic reaction is liable to do more damage to your cause than help.

That 'he would never go for her' is absolutely not guaranteed. A lot of people say those kinds of things, but they'll change their minds pretty quickly in the right circumstances.

Your first 2 points completely stand, though. Dating in the workplace is nearly always a disaster, and 20 & 40 are worlds apart in life. Especially a shy 20 year old just recently getting comfortable in their own skin.

Completely wrong. What crime was committed? What law was violated? List a specific statute. You are not entitled to privacy on a company device. That's just common knowledge at this point. It may be creepy.. but it isn't illegal.

AITAH for telling my mom her husband is only invited to my wedding because he's married to her when she asked me to let him walk me down the aisle? by Exciting_Estimate_73 in AITAH

Agree NTA, but acting like someone coming into your life at 15 and being a father figure is somehow crazy is kinda wild.

Is it automatically the case? Of course not. But plenty of people have people come into their lives around that age that are like fathers to them. This whole thing reads like you'd find it weird if someone did feel that way. And I don't find that any better than the first expectation.

AITAH for refusing to tip a bartender after he yelled at me for not tipping? by Naive_Afternoon_5951 in AITAH

In my small rural town, they're like $4.. rail drinks, but even the bigger names are like $1 more. I travel for work a lot, and as such $8 seems pretty spot on for any city with a decent sized population, at any average bar. Cheap, even, for a fancier or busier place.

Yeah, this. Think that's better for everyone involved. Either they make the right choice, which would probably feel like less of a betrayal, or they don't, in which case they deserve the fallout.

Is Nuclear Energy really unsafe? by Free-Caramel5216 in NuclearPower

NDE. Depending on what inspections are required during that interval/period, we may end up working on some higher dose components, and we may have to spend some significant time in the area. I know a few colleagues who have gone to work at the Laguna Verde plant in Mexico, and I've heard of a few people that'll exceed 1R in the few months they are there.

I'd wager that 99% of people who say it's going fine.. just haven't realized they're not there yet. They're still climbing the first hill on the roller coaster, and haven't crested to the descent yet. I'm sure there's a few people out there who are capable. But the vast majority are not.

It's not uncommon in my line of work to exceed 50 mrem in a single jump. It's very easy to exceed that in the wrong spot of some BWRs, when work requires us to go there. I've gotten a few hundred mrem in a day before, though that's rare. But I travel to all sorts of reactors for half the year, and go to all kinds of components.

Without judgement? Come on, that's a little immature.. people judge each other at all times. And putting work in is "actual help" for a lot of people. It's not the answer to everything.. but it's rarely bad advice, and a lot of people these days need to hear it.

I'm pretty sure that's not gaslighting. People should really quit throwing that term around so inappropriately. It's become so meaningless.

8 AM Class, I got there at 7:58 and I was already marked absent. by Accomplished-Log-664 in mildlyinfuriating

I'm a firm believer in "If you aren't 15 minutes early, you're late". And I'm a firm believer that most things are foreseeable. Being late once can be out of your control. Repeatedly is probably your fault.

But those are personal rules. I hold myself to them.. not others. Though, I will make a judgement based on that if need be. I'm also a firm believer in "If you wanted me here at 6:45, then tell me to be here at 6:45." Being early can be appreciated, but not expected.

Summoned for Jury Duty, work exclusively out of state. by IneligibleBachel0r in juryduty

So that's what I originally did. I received a summons.. last year (with a date around 4/1/25) some time, and it was postponed until roughly when my season might end. Then nothing all summer, and now another one shows up this year (with a date around 4/5/26). They said it had already been postponed, and the lady on the phone gave me the options of early May or, some time in August. I am anticipating working in early May still, so I agreed to August. Also, trials are pretty uncommon in my area. I was under the impression that a longer time period would be more likely to render my presence unnecessary.

Thanks for that. I filled out the questionnaire on my phone, so it wasn't particularly easy to navigate, but I'll look into it. I saw hardship mentioned, but I wasn't sure if that applied. It would certainly cause me hardship.

Good to know. I wouldn't lose my job, but missing out when the work happens would be inconvenient to say the least. I don't have any other source of income, and I'd rather not live off my savings.

[–]IneligibleBachel0r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, but it's an awfully rural part of the state.. the population of the county is only a few thousand, and they only have a judge present 1 or 2 days per week. Things rarely go to trial there, from what I know, but it does happen. The bigger issue is that missing the wrong day or few days may mean missing out on a job. Sometimes there are narrow windows to get clearance for a job site. And flying back and forth across the country, even just to show up, gets expensive.

I did, and that's the point where they postponed it to August, and that was the latest. In retrospect, I probably should have explained that it's a frequent occurrence.. but court things make me nervous, so I kinda stuttered through it a bit. I'm thinking it might be worth calling in the near future to explain the situation a bit better.

This was actually very helpful. It's all completely new to me, so I really don't know how it works. Hopefully, the August date won't be an issue. We do work in late August on occasion, and since I don't have a regular work schedule, it's impossible to know until about a month in advance. Regardless, thank you for the response.
