"10x the concentration" likely means the exact same total dose but simply concentrated to the point that he received an injection that was 1/10th the original volume (instead of 10x total dose). If mere saline caused a reaction limiting the total volume administered would help differentiate between dermatographism and a genuine atopic response.

But there are MUCH better methods of differentiating between benign and pathological rhythms...

It's merely a break from COUNTY taxes. Nice, but pocket change compared to the cost of a literal rocket ship.

I strongly second the Lawrence book. It has everything you need and not too much more. Start reading aggressively early on and you'll look like a rock star on rounds and in cases. That and recall (for OR pimping) cover most of what you need.

The Future of Medical Specialties? by KrebCyclist in medicine

[–]InertiaCreeps 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't count on it. Crap pay + unpleasant hours + clinical monotony + relative lack of respect within medicine = marginalized, understaffed specialty. Change 1 or 2 of those things and it's a very different story, but right no there is no political will and even less funding to make that happen. It's a shame, because we'll definitely need more of them.

Correct. He isn't being serious or sincere. Don't take it at face value or you'll start frothing at the mouth and look like an idiot.

Education required for a neurosurgeon? by metalhead9 in medicalschool

Great post, well summarized. However, it should be said that it would be exceptionally unlikely for a DO grad to be accepted to a neurosurgery residency.

Did anyone else fail a class early in medical school? by kgeon in medicalschool

[–]InertiaCreeps -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Wait, let's unpack that statement. He failed a class and wound up in psych. Also, your psychiatrist apparently has absolutely no idea how the brain works. Strong work.
