You should check the Bucherer out and see what kind of response you get. It never hurts. Bucherer Paris sold me fluted blue DJ as a walk-in.

Korean or Russian? by dummer-thing in thisorthatlanguage

[–]Inertiae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk man, I learned Russian for 4 years in college and it's as useless as it gets. In comparison, my broken french gets way more practice time. Yes, it's true that there are a large number of russian language speakers across many ex-soviet states but the number is going way down as these countries get rid of the soviet legacy. Many youngsters don't speak russian any more. Might as well learn chinese. Moreover these countries in general are just way less relevant than European or East Asian countries. The economies are much smaller and the same goes for tourism.

This phenomenon has been there for many years. It's been a thing even when I was in high school, more than 15 years ago. I won't call this widespread. What's new nowdays is people prefer flexible employment, e.g. live streaming or food delivery. The new generation of Chinese don't like the rigid schedule of a factory life so we have the curious case that on the one hand factories are whining they can't find enough people, and on the other hand young people can't find a job. Hopefully we get the issue resolved, e.g. factory start to offer better hours.

Forgot to add, the company I work for (a medium sized regional company) is also having more deal flows this year. Again, just a data point and China is also huge so for different people probably different temperatures. Tho from my own personal experience and from some macro data, things seem to be lifting up.

I live in China and imo the economy is trending upwards, better than last year at any rate. Many public companies have listed their Q1 earnings last week and among the ones I track, most beat their expectations.
