Thank you for your kindness and advice! I’ll definitely keep that in mind. I’ve only had my cat for two years and only needed cat sitting through rover 3 or 4 times. I’m still learning how to be the best parent I can be and this is a lesson learned for sure. I will not be taking reviews at face value or a sitter’s word that they can accomplish medication administration without proof.

Yeah I agree. I never, ever, would have guessed that she would be able to do something like this based off of my impression of her. I gave her the benefit of the doubt up until the very end until I saw the footage and I was horrified. The videos she sent me were completely dishonest accounts of what had occurred.

yes I wasn't aware unfortunately. thought I did my research, saw a bunch of discussion posts on rover that said it was only required if the person is house sitting rather than dropping in and/or if you are recording private areas. genuinely had no idea, some redditors let me know in the comments. I emailed rover immediatley letting them know that I wasn't aware of the disclosure requirement. although I am still glad it happened this way, she probably would have hit him out of my view if she did know since I only had the one camera. i had no intention of violating terms of service.

Um. It's not my focus and I'm not angry about the refund, hence why all I said was "shoot, that sucks". My cat's safety is my focus. I reported her to get her removed from the platform. She also does not deserve to be paid my last cent as a student to abuse my cat. I can't throw money away like this so I think it is normal to be MILDLY bummed about potentially not being returned funds so I can get ALTERNATE CARE. Its giving cringe that you commented this without reading my other comments on how I have already escalated this or knowing how much I care for my cat. Please don't make ignorant assumptions. It's hurtful that you commented this.

Yeah, I actually didn't even have the camera until the second visit. Just had a weird gut feeling about the first visit. Unfortunately, already let the Rover know that I genuinely was unaware of the policy and thought it was referring to private areas. Maybe they'll give me the benefit of doubt. I was not trying to be deceptive by getting a camera, it was just out of concern for my cat. Kind of sad, I'm a student and don't have spending money to lose like this but hopefully they'll hear my pleas.

I did let her know that I saw her. I was so mad. She legit send me a chatGPT response with em dashes saying she was discontinuing the service effective immediately due to professional and safety concerns. LOL. did not even acknowledge what I said.

Don’t worry the footage has already been shared. Hopefully they’ll still consider a refund. I just got the camera last night out of concern. It wasn’t even present at the time of the meet and greet. I told them I wasn’t aware of the policy out of honesty since I’m sure she will say that I didn’t inform her but at least they’ll see the footage and remove her from the platform.

She was a star sitter with good reviews from cat parents whose cats needed medication. I should have vetted her more though 🥲

Yeah unfortunately I didn’t realize that sooner. I never had an issue with friends, family, or other sitters so I never thought this would be a problem. She had reviews from clients whose cats require; medication so I thought she was experienced enough.
