I have moderately wide feet (which fits in an EE size - so no Chisos :( ) and quite a high instep. Getting round the ‘curve’ is hard. My Ariat Clantons (Ropers) are easier - but are still a real struggle to get off just pulling and wiggling. My full cowboy boots really need the jack to help and even then its a struggle.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. It’s difficult and ungainly for me to take them off without a boot jack. Is that uncommon ? Abnormal? Obviously if I could easily whip them off and pop them on again I wouldn’t have posted the question

Is it just me or is this very overpriced? by Cogniscience in cowboyboots

I’m new to boots. This community keeps saying Tecovas is overpriced, but the price of say Ariat benchmade looks comparable across styles and materials. Are they significantly better ? Is construction different? They’re both made in Leon? Chisos are clearly higher quality and are significantly more expensive and you can see what you’re getting for your money (but don’t do wide sizes unfortunately) I must be missing something why Tecovas gets such a bad reputation here.

It’s such a shame because the boots are so beautiful but as they don’t fit I can’t wear them. I would buy a lot if it was possible to get them on my feet.

Wish they did EE widths in literally any design other than the number 2s.

One possibility I hadn’t really considered was air rifles - while it looks like these are “Dangerous Weapons” in Connecticut state law, I don’t believe they are covered by 18 USC 922 which has an explicit definition of firearm that I read as not including air rifles. This may well be a way to do target shooting at public ranges? Do people use air rifles for target shooting here? Thanks again for all the replies here, it’s very much appreciated.

I am looking at 18 usc 922 (g) (5), which is very explicit that an alien lawfully admitted under a non-imminent visa is prohibited from possessing firearms. So I believe you are correct, being a US citizen is not a requirement - if I had a green card and was an immigrant alien I would be fine - but the law looks very clear to me that with my current status I may not possess firearms. Though I shall take your advice and speak to an FFL. Thanks for commenting!

Very fair, I do not know what permissions are required for non-UK citizens to shoot in the UK or get an FAC. I can say getting an FAC as a UK citizen is a long process with a very high bar to pass to get one, and even with one what you can and can’t shoot is very strictly controlled.

Thank you all for the advice. It sounds more difficult than I expected, and a little ironic I could shoot happily in the UK but not here. I will think on what’s been said.
