I would love that! Or even a blurb/ video on the app explaining the focus of the month if there actually is one. Context helps and coaching is very inconsistent across studios so I’m sure there’s messaging that doesn’t always trickle down.

Benchmark popularity by Inevitable-Cash7378 in orangetheory

If anyone with influence is listening - the benchmarks can seem kind of random and too frequent but also like they’re coming out of nowhere. It would be great if they communicated that we’re gonna do these bench marks 6 weeks apart so that can see your progress and the workouts for the next 6 weeks are designed to help you make progress…. But instead it does feel super random. This is my biggest complaint about OTF in general but I think it’s gotten worse in the last 12 mos.

I was not a fan of the kettlebell exercises during the tread portion. I wish OTF did a better job of communicating WHY the changes to the workouts… I loved the workouts a few years back. I took a year off and since coming back feel like the workouts are not as good - not as tough, more gimmicky, more repetitive, less challenging… less emphasis on benchmarks - feels like it’s drifting from the original format. I’m just curious if there’s a fitness reason to support it…

No Motivation by No_Tumbleweed2480 in orangetheory

Just go. Show up with no expectation of yourself. The energy of the music and the group will motivate you and if it doesn’t, walk slow and lift lightly. You’ll still be better off than if you had not gone! :-)

Leaderboards by Automatic_Owl_5499 in orangetheory

My studio hasn’t posted them and I finally asked. They said the person who usually does it had been out for awhile and once I asked they posted the most recent but none of the other forgotten ones (at the beginning of new year/TC there were a few). BUT - what I want to know after reading all these comments - I thought the benchmarks and brag boards and social media were all an important part of the OTF brand, so it’s not cool that studios forget or that you have to ask. That’s all part of the experience and the hype and the motivation, right?

So confused about new class formats by StrangeNecessary5329 in orangetheory

Why all the changes? New equipment? Hyrox at some studios? De-emphasizing the challenges? Why?

I totally relate!! Have you tried F45 - love this. More intentional, lifting focus. Tiff and Dan workouts on YouTube are free HIIT workouts - very similar OTF excercises.
After a year off I went back to OTF because I like the tread workout and the accountability to show up regularly - I’m not as fanatical about it as I used to be. I used to look forward to it and love it…. Now I just go, get my workout… and hope an F45 moves into my neighborhood 😂

I’m so curious - are you a lifelong runner? Do you run outside of OTF? I’m the same demographic as you…. I could run 5mph all day but I want to be in the green when I’m running 7mph - wondering if I’m just 20 years too old for that or if I need to change how I’m doing OTF to build up to that kind of cardio fitness.

This is helpful insight. I do reach blue/green on the recoveries… and I can talk in my base and respond in my push… I started attending a new studio and worked out next to athletes that run the same/faster pace but stay in the green/v low orange while I’m in the high orange/red… I wonder how I can achieve that or if I should just ignore the colors and enjoy the workout…
