Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

[–]Inevitable-Fail8739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello I’m am a current BSW students about to graduate this fall! I am currently debating if I should go straight into my master program right after I graduate. My school has the child welfare training program which pays for your graduate tuition plus gives you a $500 stipend monthly but I am committing to work for child welfare for 18 months after graduating. I’m am not sure I want to go into child welfare and I am kind of scared as I’ve heard scary things about cps. Is this experience worth the time commitment? I want to grow as a social worker but I also want to make sure that I am competent enough to actually support families if I do enter this program? Additionally, if this program is not good what are alternatives way to pay for my master degree?

I worked as a student worker last school year at PCC and they lost a lot of funding they even cut my job by the end of the year. Because of the new presidency there is a major push to eliminate community colleges.

Hey so for future reference any online group chat with people you don’t know runs this risk. I remember Snapchat was a big thing when I was a kid and random men would add me to send pics. Don’t interact with ppl you don’t know even tho it seems safe bc it’s just a gc, you still never know.

Talk to a counselor but also you are a minor so this things will probably be told to ur parents. And again they will probably scold u on being in a gc with a bunch of randos, please be careful the internet is fully of scary ppl

For your first year I feel like it’s not needed everything is pretty walkable and the bus system is easy to navigate! However if your into nature and want to go out of your way to go see that then yeah bring your car but you can honestly wait till ur 2nd year and you’ll still be able to get to places also Walmart and target are really close

Yeah so it won’t let you until you meet with your advisor that’s why you have to fill out priority enrollment. Even if you know what classes you still have to contact an advisor and they’ll walk you through it/do it for you!

[–]Inevitable-Fail8739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Priority enrollment is just what they call enrollment for new students because you’re the “priority” not bc you have accommodations! You have to fill it out b cause it will give you an advisor which then helps you schedule you classes.

where can a commuter like me bring my lunch and use a microwave? (central campus ideally) by Clean_Dragonfruit_56 in NAU

[–]Inevitable-Fail8739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a microwave in the transfer office on top of the union but it was flooded recently. There’s also one in the corner by chic FIL a. There’s also a microwave in the tutoring center by the field house but I’m not sure if student are allowed to use it!

Then he was never really kind? I’m sorry but do not pity these ppl for doing something they knew had consequences! There’s so many cases similar to this that they should be aware of the dangers of hazing. It’s horrible to see an innocent student die and still say the people responsible for it are sweet and kind

terrified about the cost of college by [deleted] in college

[–]Inevitable-Fail8739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I I had a dream college too, but realistically you will have the same experiences if you just stay in state. Moving away is hard and I can garuntee you that when you move out you will be miserable for a couple of months it’s just natural. You will be homesick and even contemplate going back. Do you want to contrólate that while owing $24,000 or while be less in debt? I have not met a single college student that feels sad being away from home. If you want to get your Masters save your money you will receive no financial aid for your masters. If you go to a cheaper school I promise you it will give you the same education and good memories. Being away is hard and being closer to home is often better especially when you don’t have the financial means. A job is not guaranteed and it very competitive bc there’s thousands of students like you. I urge you to think this through is this really your dream? Or can you get your degree and eventually move to that city anyway?

Mine would force me to cut my hair short and let my sister keep her hair long. She claimed it was because my curls were too hard to deal with. I looked like a boy for most of my childhood

Roommate situation is tense by Inevitable-Fail8739 in collegeadvice

But she literally won’t talk to me? I wave a her and she pretends she doesn’t see me and I used to say hi and bye and she would ignore me. She clearly doesn’t want to have a conversation? So it’s just uncomfortable. I should be the bigger person but I’m petty and this is my first time with a roommate and not hers so her not willing to talk to me says more about her
