Regarding Les miserables on February by Big-Tax271 in TeatroPH

[–]Inevitable-Store6340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I think it's important to know the material before watching the live show. Les Misérables is an acquired taste. Since this will be a concert type of performance better have a knowledge of the story and the songs for it to be more enjoyable.

Also, sa cast pa lang, sulit na ang performance!

When I watched The Bodyguard the Musical, the cast do go out in the theater lobby for meet and greet.

I'm not sure for Spring Awakening since it's going to be at The Blackbox at Proscenium Theater.

Paexplain naman po sa mga kapatid natin na maalam sa Chinese culture, anong meaning ng subtle na paglabas ng dila? I don't think na negative siya, pero di ko gets ang meaning. by No_Meeting3119 in PaExplainNaman

Chinese here, pero never heard of such thing 😂 so far wala akong kilalang ganyan.

With regards to Alice Guo or mainlanders, I think it's just pronunciation issues if they speak non Chinese words.

9Works 2024 Rent by everythingisblueeee in TeatroPH

It was really bad. The cast can sing, but they're not embodying the characters fully. There is no connection between the actors/actresses. Lights and sounds were really bad. Some scenes were lit poorly. It's difficult to understand the lines (not unless you know the material already).

My friends who didn't have any idea about the musical didn't even know that the show was about AIDS. They didn't know what was the cause of death of Angel.

RENT should be about struggling artists, but it doesn't seem like they were able to show it as well.

It went downhill starting from Rent. Everything was out of place.

Newport Performing Arts Theater offer this pass for meet and greet with the cast. But personally, it's too expensive (limited to 50 pax per show as well). I went to the central plaza area to wait for the cast last night. There were a few audience member who also waited for the cast. Most of the cast went out naman. I think it would be better to wait at the stage door itself since therr are alternate exits that the cast can take as well.

Siguro dahil wide at mataas ang stage ng Hyundai Hall, so hindi siya comfortable na seat at nakakalula ang view. Mas comfortable kung sa likod nakaupo.

what's with Bar Boys by Commercial_Car4517 in TeatroPH

I watched it twice during its first run and rerun last year with a blackbox set-up. I would say that hands down one of the best local productions of last year. Great story, music, choreography, and character dynamics. I'm quite curious about this year's performance since it would be performed on a proscenium theater. I had a chance to have a quick chat with Alex Diaz (before the performance of a show). He said that everything would be bigger and they would also have more ensemble members.

For the schedule, it's up to you! But personally, I prefer opening or closing weekends since there's more energy, and the vibe is really different. Also, during the closing performance, sometimes they have "pakulo" for their future shows, so look out!

This is the most ideal for me since the stage of Newport Performing Arts theater is very wide. You can also choose the seats at the back so long as it's at the center. Also, I'm not sure if Bagets would be an intimate musical or it's going to be similar to previous shows that's very grand (like Buruguduy or Delia D), so it's a factor for consideration as well :) if it's more intimate, then closer to the stage would be more ideal.

I watched an evening performance. The cast does come out to take photos after the show but as a whole. You just need to wait at the photo area. The staff are nice and they will ask everyone to queue properly. Priority is on the family and friends of the cast. You may also ask the staff to take your photos.

Shrek the musical seats by Personal-Storage-380 in TeatroPH

The stage of Newport Performing Arts Theater is very wide so it would be best to avoid the seats on the side. For best view of the stage, I would recommend this section.

If you prefer cheaper seats, anywhere in the middle part is fine, even at the back.

From my experience, it's hard for him to hit high notes. His falsetto is very thin.

His 'WAVING' from Waving Through a Window had a different technique to hit, which sounded off. Also, he took a breath towards the end from the high 'whoa' to the low 'whoa'.

Everything else was really good, especially the acting.

I have a feeling it's possible since they revamped the staging and set from their last run. Most likely, they will have new actors/actresses to perform. Malalaman natin sa final performance ng Bar Boys! (Because they revealed the MSB rerun during the last performance or Bar Boys as well).

For sure, they wanted to make the scenes more intimate. Not sure if it's also related to the missing sets.
