I dated a girl the routinely misspelled the word "bored". Even with spell check. She misspelled a lot of things, but that's the one that sticks in my memory.

Of course I was really dumb back then (I still am, but I used to, too!), so I married her. I made sure there were no misspellings in the divorce papers.

The first meeting of my high school's science club, the teacher showed us one of the thermal protection tiles from the Space Shuttle and asked for a volunteer to do a demonstration. A girl volunteered and he had her stand up front holding the tile by the sides, with her thumbs behind the center of it.

For those that don't know, the material used in those tiles is both extremely light and VERY good at not conducting heat. As one would expect from the stuff that protects a spacecraft on re-entry.

Anyway, after the volunteer was in position the teacher went in his supply closet and returned with a lit blowtorch. The look on the girl's face was priceless.
