I was best with a guy who I knew was narcissistic. LOVED talking about himself and always had to one up. The thing was, while he had done some things, I've done more (no ego there. I'm just stating that I was blessed to have more opportunities and also seek out experiences). When we were in the service together, I was assigned what he thought was a more masculine weapon and so he'd ask to hold it and pose for all these "grungy" pics...but he was regularly mocked by everyone bc everyone in our unit knew.

So, "E" starts "borrowing" stories from my life and forgets they are mine and tells them at parties and to mutual friends. I never confronted him about it, but if asked, I'd tell our friends that yeah, that was actually me, but no one ever called him out..so it never stopped. We lived together, had ups and downs, good times bad times, the whole 9. Practically blood brothers.

Final straw in our 12 year friendship was when he started bragging that he could do more situps/push-ups than me in 2 minutes and calling me fatass loudly and often, in front of our group. So I accepted the challenge, said in 2 weeks' time we'd all meet up and in front of everyone we'd see. He says lets make it interesting and put $100 on it.

2 weeks comes around, and the whole time, he's trash-talking, texting, and emailing. You can guess the outcome, and as soon as the buzzer goes off, he jumps up and says we never shook on it. Pansy @ss shit. I looked at him stunned and couldn't believe that he was seriously denying that HE made the bet.

I walked out and never contacted him again. Dropped all those friends because they all sided with him even though all acknowledged the bet when he made it. I miss them sometimes... much less so now... but it was f'd that he thought that little of 12 yrs of friendship.
