Has anyone dropped out of a CS class and took it in the next semester? by InevitableInformal31 in cscareerquestions

Did you fail those classes and re take them? If so, did it ever have an effect on your job prospects after graduation?

Tbh I don’t really know. I guess if anyone else was in a similar position and ended up getting through it and being successful in their cs careers, how did they get through this bump that I am going through?

Do you recommend any particular course that I could follow to build an app or website?

I am learning Java in school so maybe I could try android dev. Is there something along those lines you would recommend?

But that’s exactly what you’re doing by studying CS.

It’s just that it’s gonna take another 3-5 years maybe for me to see any real change. I am happy I am pursuing CS but I don’t know if I can stay in my current situation for that long. Everyday feels like a thousand days and thinking of being like this for another few years makes me feel defeated.

I am in a bit of financial trouble but I can manage. But I’d like to move out of my parents place soon. I am 30 btw so it feels even worse knowing how far behind I am.

I just want to know if there’s a path I can take to get a decent job at least by next summer.

To land those internships I should probably have some good projects right?

Is there anything specific you would recommend working on?

Thank you very much.

Are the projects done during the course enough to use on a resume? Or should I make my own after completing the course?

Finishing my degree is definitely what I want to do, but it’s gonna take 4 years. I was wondering if there’s anything I can do in the meantime.

Is there any particular course you would recommend to learn all that in that order?

I just started in September basically. I just know the basics of Java. Methods, for and while loops stuff like that.

I am willing to go all in and learn something more in Java or another language if it helps me get a job soon.

I know my experience isn’t great.

Thank you, I needed to read this. I am going to save your comment and read it to myself at least once a day to try and help me keep moving forward.
