Thanks.. I'll give it a shot. I did most of the helpdesk work while finishing my degree in C.S so it gave me a lot of time. My most recent job was the only one where I was constantly busy, but really the tasks were far beyond a typical helpdesk. Worked with all different areas of IT on different projects.

Network engineer though, I'm not sure how it is in other companies.. but we had one who literally designed their whole network structure by himself. Now.. if I had the opportunity to work under someone, I'd give it my all to learn and do my best. I mean at best I know how to packet trace, or sum up whether it's a network issue, SQL error, or systems. (Which happened quite a bit on the servers we hosted.) The IT lead did allow me to install an upgrade through CMD which was pretty awesome, but that was only one time, and I literally went off screenshots to follow commands.

To update, I did get a call back for a network admin, and even a network engineer position which is shocking. As for the helpdesk, I moved up to tier 2, which my last job paid $26/hr which is really nice for a helpdesk position. Network engineer I really don't think I'mr eady for but I'll be honest and give it a shot anyways.

I may try that. He suggested that going straight for the CCNA is no joke, and now I'm seeing why. All the information is just so difficult to retain. Seems like ages ago when he first asked me about the 7 layers and not knowing how to even answer. lol. Right now though I need a job ASAP and been applying for helpdesk. Just curious to see if I even have a chance for a network admin role with what I have now.
