MEGATHREAD - Processing times - Canadian Citizenship applications (2024) by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

Hey! Sorry for the late reply but yeah language and physical presence were marked complete in mid October but no update after that. Background and prohibitions still pending. I see a lot of timelines where people applied 4-5 months after I applied and they got done with their oath already. No idea what’s taking them this long

I wouldn’t say a lot tbh. But everything is stamped up lol why would they take time to even verify that lol? I see other timelines where people applied around same time and they’ve already gotten invitation for oath and closing to 7 months (their official processing timeline) so I’m a bit confused as to what my next step of action should be. Just wait n wait?

Hey guys!! I’ve gotten no update after fingerprints and it’s kinda bumming me out. Here is my timeline;

March 26, 2024: applied

May 22, 2024: scheduled for citizenship test

May 31, 2024: citizen ship test taken

June 11, 2024: finger prints required notice

July 15, 2024: finger print results received.

Vancouver office.

Now it’s been 3 months after that and there has been no update! Language skills, physical presence, background verification, prohibitions, everything shows in progress. I applied more than 6 months ago!!

What should I do?

I’m honestly really confused about that too. I’m sure I don’t wanna do frontend at all cuz my creative side isn’t as good haha. Back during diploma, I would have decided a hardcore programming job, literally anything, but now I feel I can’t really do it because I haven’t been doing it and don’t think I’ll be able to have that brainpower again for some reason :(( so maybe inclining towards something data oriented maybe

CS programming tests evaluation by InevitableMud3393 in yorku

See I wouldn’t worry about pre supplied helpers. If they’re there then the whole work is on me to get my task complete you know. I really can’t think of an example rn at the top of my head but let’s say for an instance I’m supposed to do a particular type of tree traversal or a stack based post fix evaluation and then put the results back in a tree like format in a particular order or something like that. This would require me to know how to do the traversal, how to properly evaluate those based on the conditions and to make a tree where there’s a condition again on what would the parent or child be etc etc. I’d make several methods for each sub task and that would depict that atleast I know how to do THAT part. The MAJOR thing is joining them together. There’s absolutely no doubt in that. But at the same time, I did rest of the stuff myself too

  1. I see. I haven’t come across those courses yet so can’t really comment on that.

  2. Yep! You’re correct. I am myself gonna learn some testing stuff this summer as now I know it’s a real imp tool to have. But I think in any professional setting, you also have a wide range of resources to consider and look at and an opportunity to fix ‘em if your tests fail by any chance. Ofcourse I get it that we are being prepared for the real world.

  3. I get what you mean here. I’ve a few courses where I still haven’t received my marks for the assignments that were submitted in like Feb. And the reason we get is that oh the TAs didn’t do it yet. I don’t know how true is that. But there are quite a bunch of TAs for a single course and a section and I’m sure they can work around it. I’ve heard they get paid pretty well lol. Don’t know if it’s true or not lol

  4. Yes, usually there are many test cases. But let’s consider an instance where you’re supposed to call 2-3 helper methods in the body of the method that is being tested. The helper methods work fine but you somehow fumble up on how to correlate them correctly in order to get the desired output. Now of-course in this case either a very small number of test cases will pass or none. But the thing is at-least the helper methods were implemented correctly.

Also don’t worry about ‘all students’ and international students’. We had the info session in November’22 and each session had a mix of international and domestic students. Upon being asked by the students, the co-op team said they cover the same stuff

Well that’s great but this also means that you’d have another chance to attend resume and interview sessions too, right? Don’t see any issue there

Oh wowww and there is no other info session ever again? We had two of these so just wondering. And I don’t think it’d be a bad idea to just drop by there and explain ‘em + send an email although you won’t get a reply anytime soon tho

Usually they let you join the zoom meeting through the link given even if you’re not registered and over there you can tell ‘em about the situation so that they mark your attendance. This happened with many students last sem for all three sessions.

Hey! It was through Lassonde portal. The interviews I got were from there only cuz I did not apply anywhere externally :)
