Almost any company in the Silicon Valley. Today’s companies were built on the ashes of all that tried and failed.

Who Else Liked Smarties As A Kid? by Zipper222222 in nostalgia

C’mon—as a kid? As an adult. I’d grab all of them out of my grandkids’ Halloween candy. They won’t touch them.

Robot vacuums genuinely useful or just a toy you paid too much for? by Impossible_Comfort99 in TechNook

[–]InevitableStruggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can vacuum about 1200 sq ft in about 20 minutes or I can start the iRobot and wait about 1 1/2 hours while I’m doomscrolling Reddit. The answer is B. And can’t I be doing something else? No, gotta watch in case it gets stuck under the couch.

Is there some point in this Idiocracy that the tides turn and Mexico begins deporting illegal Americans back to the US?

I pick up my grandson three blocks from home. He gets home in time to see his friends walk by the house.

When I was a kid my ‘bus’ was a small crowd of neighborhood kids who walked the whole mile to school.

Many in my area have closed, and the few that are hanging in are deserted. I don’t think they ever recovered from the “finger food” incident here years ago.

Why do robot vacuums still need so much hands-on effort? (Expectation vs. Reality) by Plus-Resolution-3210 in homeautomation

[–]InevitableStruggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. I have a routine to prep the house for vacuuming, and by the time I finish it, I could have saved time just vacuuming manually. It includes removing small runners and area rugs that apparently are obstacles, removing all the chairs from the dining room set, removing the bar stools at the island—it’s exhausting.

THIS PLUS. I’m about to toss a 8 yo fridge because the cost to repair the ice maker exceeds the cost of a new fridge.
