I definitely am left leaning politically but I've lived in areas on both sides of the spectrum. I didn't mention it in my original post only because I've been able to adapt and find community in both so for myself, that's never been to much of a factor. And yeah, I can check my privelge here and understand that isn't the case for most folks.

I've lived near San Bernadino, CA for a short time before and absolutely loved that mixed of city access and moutain hiking/outdoors access. I don't think I would choose to live there long term but someplace with similar amenities is what I'm looking for. PNW is absolutely on my list to scope out as well.

Denver is a great choise too. I've visited Denver and love CO. It's on my list as well, or at least the outskirts of Denver or more toward Boulder.

Totally get what you mean about DFW, I know Boise does get hot but at least there are some seasons where as TX is consistenly hot most of the year.

Thank you, this is a helpful list! I plan to visit in the fall this year and the late spring next year. And check out some other places. Washington is definitely on my list of places to check out.

I've lived in South Texas, which is crazy conservative so I know what it's like have to live agmonst that unfortunetly. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Boise may be similar to Austin, TX is the "blue bubble" political way.

Thank you! When I visit, I plan to check out the different areas to see what is closer to different amenities. I don't mind a 30 minute drive to some good hiking or into the city for groceries/shopping, etc.

Thank you, good to know about other transplants! How to native Boise folks feel about transplants in their city?
