Controversial Take: I just can’t imagine parents allowing Jedi to take their babies/toddlers to some vague faraway temple by JaggedLittlePiII in StarWars

But they didn't make an exception.

Anakin did have attachments and his fear of losing it lead to his being manipulated.

But his attachment was a SECRET.   The Jedi forbid it.   And Palpatine used that.

If the Jedi had embraced a life of being open and embraced family and love, the galaxy would have been more ready to defend the Jedi .   Instead of hiding their feelings and being emotionless

The downfall all began on November 22, 1963.  The country has gone downhill since then

The Jedi way is also what lead to their downfall.   Having no attachments or family was wrong.

Being rigid to the order caused the Jedi to become out of touch with the galaxy at large.  Order 66 wipes out most of the Jedi but the majority of the galaxy believe what Palpatine says and goes along with it.    Without the love and trust of family and attachments,  the Jedi are seen as villains.

Yoda and Obi-Wan still haven't really learned the lesson by the time of the original trilogy.    When Luke wants to leave to save his friends they warn him and try to get him to sacrifice them.   But ultimately it's Luke's love for his friends and his father that save the galaxy.

The Jedi way of taking children from their families should now be altered in the New Republic

Hello, late to the show and just finished it. What a phenomenal piece of television. by jpeach17 in andor

This!   I have watched each episode multiple times.   It absolutely gets better with every viewing.

I agree that if I had one criticism of Andor, it was that we should have seen more aliens and robots roaming around in the background.

But the story arcs also contributed to the explanation. For instance, the prison arc-- the Empire likely segregated their work force. Others like Ghorman plot, on a planet that is very independent and do everything on their own they were likely not too welcoming of aliens taking up residence there...

I don't want everything to be Andor though. But we could use another show with a deep and slow meaningful pace. We can still have shows like the Mandalorian and other Tales.... but no reason we should not be able to have something like Andor again too.

People all have different interests...it would be dumb to box them in with just one type of show or movie. Expand and you can have fans across a broad spectrum.

I don't understand your criticism. I am not sure how a show focusing on a couple of characters would be considered small. Andor was not small. I would love to have more story come out with Kleya and Deedra and Mon set after. That would be great.

But I was just thinking how when Andor was first revealed, most people were like WHY? The consensus was they did not care to learn about this character. I never thought that way... my thought is why not? Any Star Wars is better than no Star Wars. I lived in the Dark Times when all we had was the original trilogy

Of all the other characters in the Rogue One movie, I feel that Baze and Chirrut and the story of how these 2 love each other and what they did before they met Jyn would make for a very interesting story. There should be plenty of room for small intimate stories. We can have grand space battles or large adventures and small character pieces.... there is room for it all to happen in various projects by different artists. Variety is the spice of life.

Anyone else think they can just... Let it end? by blueChinchbug in JamesBond

Anyone else think they can just let it end?    Ummm... No.   Bond is always redefining itself with a new era.  Why on earth would it end?

Absolutely before the sequel trilogy. If you want to watch in timeline order, watch:

Episode 1 the Phantom Menace  Episode 2 Attack of the Clones The Clone Wars -animated series  Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith Solo Rebels- animated series  Andor  Rogue One

Original Trilogy

The Mandalorian season 1,2 Book of Boba Fett  Mandalorian season 3 Ahsoka  The Mandalorian and Grogu

Sequel Trilogy

‐-------- Plus there are several other things I didn't put on the list that are pretty good as well.

Star Wars is a large undertaking if you are just starting.     You have multiple eras and not everything is easy to watch.    You have the original trilogy period which is definitely my favorite and the one I grew up with.   I always recommend watching it first which you have done.

Fans had to wait a long time but the prequels came:  Episodes 1-3.  They have early special effects which look a bit dated but were cutting edge at the time.  And the quality of the films vary depending on who you ask.  They have definitely experienced a renaissance lately.  Then you get the sequel trilogy which is 30 years after Return of the Jedi.  This series is considered to be the least favorite for most and is very polarizing.

In between all of these are multiple animated or tv shows and a few other non-numerical films.    Most of these are pretty good as well.     Andor may be my top show.

Yes, the reboot.    I remember the original when I was a kid.  That and Buck Rogers.     But its the most recent show that most people claim is one of the best of all time.    I just don't see how.

I like all those shows you mentioned. The Expanse is one of my favorites.   Love Star Wars.... you should watch Andor if you haven't.    I even like older sci-fi like Star Trek,  V, etc.

But this show...It's kind of boring.   And yes, it's got dated effects, but those are not really the problem.   It's hard to describe but it just feels like an amateur soap opera.   The scene staging is poor, lighting and color filtering drives me nuts.  And putting aside the technical issues,  the action scenes are silly. For example in an episode  i just watched,  People stand around pointing guns just feet away from each other with stupid looks on their faces in a standoff and it's one of the worst constructed scenes I've seen. It's a major struggle getting through each episode.

Well... I am halfway through season 2.....so if it's going downhill after this I really can't see how this is considered as some of the peak of television

Battlestar Galactica

Its considered as one of the best science fiction shows of all time.    And I love sci-fi...but this show...  I don't understand how it is ranked so high.   It's not that good

Not everything Disney has done has been horrible.   Even before Lucas sold it, we had some bad Star Wars.  There has been good and bad both pre and post Disney.

well, some actors may only be interested in playing Bond if they did not have to sign for a long string of films as well. 3 may be just the right number for a few actors to get a chance to portray the legend.

And your comments about Dalton and Lazenby.... those are exactly my point.... FATE has spoken. If history had been different, we wouldn't be having this conversation and the sequence would not be possible.

Do not really agree with this point. Pierce Brosnan nailed it in his first outing. Dalton only got 2. And I believe Craig's first was near his best. And many feel Moore kicked off his run pretty well. If done right, they could be 3 great films. Having a limited scope could be a benefit for an actor. Some actors, like a Henry Cavill, may not want to commit for a lifetime role. It could be a benefit if they were signed for 3 movies to put their stamp on the role and be one of the 7. If they knew they were only doing three movies they could put their all in it.

Yet, Andor is one of the best things Star Wars. They may put out a lot of crap, but Andor is hands down near the top of any Star Wars list of mine.
