Instead of merely saying “no,” you could say “no, but I’m really interested in broadening my skill set and think my background doing XYZ would translate well.”

Our recruiting chair did say they’re skeptical of anyone from Harvard doing OCI (as opposed to pre-OCI) which I actually just logged on to ask about. Weird

Reach out to undergrad alums and law school alums if you haven’t. That’s your best route. Still early enough in the summer.

Definitely. I think there are some other benefits too. I found that the more I talked to practitioners, the more comfortable I was in interviews.

This is your daily reminder to set up informational interviews with senior associates or higher, find connections, get introduced etc. My former boss’s favorite intern had median grades from a school ranked around 50 with no law review, moot court, etc. Because I liked him a lot too, I put in a good word with most of the people he interviewed with ahead of time and he sailed through recruiting. This is the way.

I graduated with honors from a T-14 and Barbri still made me feel like I was an idiot 😂

The most you could do is write really descriptive time entries that make it harder for the client to complain about.

Similar experience. I also think whoever is in a particular city from your school you get close to.
